I think the committee got it right.

My only change, conference champs get home games.

Give that Texas/Clemson game an 8pm kickoff in Death Valley.  Regardless of location, I think Texas wins.

I'm an SEC homer and I think they got it right based on the criteria they had to go on for sure.

My tweak - reseed the opponents the 4 top seeds play after round 1. The #1 seed plays the lowest ranked team left after round 1 games, the #2 seed plays the second worst, etc. Do the same after round 2 and the round 1 bye advantage is not a factor. Seed the final four strictly by their ranking. Reward the higher seeds and add value to the regular season.

They will change how the seeding works going forward. 

The teams ranked 1-4 in the CFP rankings are who should get the byes, that's not how it is this year. It should be seeded based on the CFP rankings all the way through, without the conference champion factor.

Not necessarily. 

Winning your conference (P4 and highest G5) still guarantees you a spot in the playoffs, it just doesn't mean you get an automatic bye.

I just haven't been impressed with many teams.  I watched a lot early on, but just lost interest as the season progressed.  It's been kind of the same thing with college basketball.

Georgia wins, moves to 13-0, Bama falls to 12-1. 

9-3 #23 Boise State wins the Mountain West.

Nobody thinks Boise State deserves a bye over Alabama in this scenario.

It does. You get an automatic bid into the playoffs. 

For reference, the FCS ranks the top 8 teams and they get a first-round bye and at least one home playoff game. It does not matter if you are a conference champion or not. The other 16 teams are ranked, and they do their best to pair up the first round by geography while avoiding inter-conference matchups.

There are 10 AQ spots, but it has no bearing on the seedings.

This is my point. You can be an AQ and be the 12 seed.

Any power ranking that has Alabama ahead of Oregon is flawed.  I'm not opposed to some type of ranking but the parameters have to make it make sense.
