I would expect a lot more than that.  The population of CA is roughly 39 million, OH 12 million, and PA 13 million.  Using population, CA should have more than both OH and PA combined.  So to your point, surprise is an understatement.

Now that I'm home, I did a quick search. Looking at ONLY 2025 football recruits for California, there were 2, 5 star players the first was a CB committed to Alabama, the second is a QB committed to Southern California (USC). They then had 30, 4 star players. Of those 30 players, only 11 were going to schools east of the Mississippi River, with the majority staying on the west coast at Oregon, USC or UCLA.

Also, for comparisons sake, Ohio had 1, 5 star players and about 11 4 star guys. Pennsylvania had 0, 5 star guys and about 10, 4 star guys. Lastly, Texas had 9, 5 star players and 40, 4 star players.

      Any power ranking that has Alabama ahead of Oregon is flawed.  I'm not opposed to some type of ranking but the parameters have to make it make sense.

      Listening to Saban and Herbstreit cape for Alabama makes me want to punch a wall. It's not like I don't expect it, but it brings up residual anger from last year and new anger this year.
