Nick arguing that non-con games should be canceled because of the message sent here.  But those weren't the teams they lost to that caused this problem.  They lost three conference games, and two were horrendous stains upon their record.  Multiple times he talked about the non conference games but that had nothing to do with it here. 

To say nothing of the fact that Alabama's non con games were mighty powers like WKU, Mercer, South Florida, and Wisconsin (the only one that has had staying power at all and for which they deserve credit).

And crying about ranked wins like the SEC doesn’t CONSTANTLY benefit from rankings bias.

Arizona State is going to be a problem for the Clemson/Texas winner.

I think Tennessee/Ohio State winner gets past Oregon. 

Pulling for SMU as I can't stand PSU, I think Boise wins over either.

Hoping beyond hope that IU gets the win over ND. UGA QB situation has them a toss up for now.

You don't think for the past 15 years the SEC has far and away been the best conference? It's just like they talk about ACC basketball most years.

I am blinded by hatred but no, I don’t agree he isn’t talking about this team in particular. I DO think he was trying a different tack to play up a “if wins against strong teams don’t matter why risk the loss” narrative and using the idea of nonconference scheduling as the framework. 
 

The other teams can’t change their conference, at least not easily. Alabama benefits - MASSIVELY - from being in the SEC but Saban and others would like to frame it as a detriment. They get a lot of recruiting and financial benefits being in the SEC, and the circle of bias that are the SEC rankings helps further whoever it is that does rise towards the top of the conference. When they have years - as last year was - where their OOC W/L isn’t pretty they find ways to dismiss that as a factor. But DRILL that messaging when there’s anything that elevates them. (For the record, I get that completely. I just find it irritating at times.)

Far and away, for 15 years? Absolutely not. The top of the SEC is always the cream of the crop nationally. That doesn’t mean the rest of the conference is.

I agree. If Arizona State continues playing how they have as of late, I could see them causing trouble for plenty of teams selected.

The selection committee got it right in my opinion.
