I think Owensboro admin had already talked themselves into parting ways with Coach Fallin at least by the mid-way point of last season.  They informed him and asked for applications.  They initially got some big fish to at least talk to them (Coach Wallace, Coach Morris and it's said that even Coach Brandon Smith "considered" it).  They rode in that boat as long as they could but just wasn't a fit.  So, coming out of that is the Christmas/New Year Holidays that most things shut down, so you lose a week/10 days from that.

Then Ganaway came online and gained traction with Rector who seems to have been there from the start.

But now you're talking over a month in and now the natives are getting restless.  The fanbase gets involved/irratated that their guy (the internal guys they know and like) didn't get a shot.  And here we are, still bobbing around after starting and restarting a few times here.

It is not the best look, as the current roster today has a fine team loaded up for next season.

Who's going to lead them?  The clock's ticking O admin.  Are they into winter workouts already?  I'd assume so.

Do you know for a fact that Owensboro admin told Fallon to step down or they were going to fire him?

If you were Coach Fallin, why would you walk away from the team O has coming back?

2 questions. Who's running their strength and conditioning during this time? How much of the staff is expected to be back?

Burn out is a real thing.  If Admin, alumni, and parents weren't happy with what he had done in his 10 years which is basically win a lot its probably time to walk away.  He also probably cares about the program and wants the next coach to start off on the right foot with a solid team.  If anything it probably speaks to his character more.  After seeing how this coaching search has gone and who some of the REAL candidates are not pipe dream coaches Owensboro fans might regret this.

Not sure about the later question, but Blake Roberts has been the strength and conditioning coach the past couple of years.

I'll say this Fallin won like 80% of his games, won several district/regional championships, made it to a title game, and honestly might have won 1 if his QB doesn't leave week 4 to enroll at Rutgers and people weren't happy with those numbers and results?  If I am a proven coach why would I want to uproot my family to move to Owensboro for a fan base that isn't happy with that and will want me gone? No thank you I will stay where I am at.

I agree with Zone. My son has a few more years at Owensboro and It's I for one wanted a proven coach like Rector. A winner. I would love to have Edge or Morris but I don't blame them for not applying. I think they knew it would be a inside hire so I don't blame them. 

If we hire within, which I think it will be, then we wasted a lot of time. 

I see why fans like Brown and Devil Fans have fallen off the ship. It's hard to watch. 

As far as Fallin, I think he did a wonderful job for us here at Owensboro. I think the thing people question is why did all these kids leave OHS and go to Catholic, Apollo or DC? I understand why Biever went to IMG, he was great shotput and disc thrower. It's just hard to be a devil fan right now.

This has now become the cool thing to do which is transfer and get a lot attention for doing it.  A lot of times its because they believe there is an easier way to get a championship ring.  If we as a society are only only judging the success of a program on if they win a title then I truly believe we are missing the entire boat on what high school sports and especially football are supposed to be about.  I think you would have to ask the individual player and their families for why they want to transfer.

Just from what I witnessed last year obviously the Crowe and Maddox kid leaving to Catholic. Daviess County got Jace Hunt and another kid from OMS 2 years ago. Apollo got a Bratcher I know and couple more kids. That's 6 kids that I know of right now, but my son informed me yesterday we got a linemen from Catholic.

I tried to explain some of this earlier in the thread. I now have some of the info to show my example. I believe talented kids are leaving Owensboro because the offense is not varied enough. We have had trouble consistently getting the ball to our playmakers at Wide Receiver for a while now. Let’s use the Crowe kid as an example. In 2023 as a Junior at OHS he had 16 carries for 153 yards with 6 rushing TD’s. He also had 28 receptions for 432 yards and 5 TD’s. So that’s 44 times he touched the ball in 14 games. An average of 3 touches a game. In 2024 he transfers to Catholic and has 35 carries for 404 yards with 4 rushing TD’s. He also had 60 receptions for 1063 yards and 22 TD’s. So that was 95 times he touched the ball in 15 games. An average of 6 touches a game. Maddox while at OHS as a Sophmore had 2 receptions for 6 yards with 1 TD. He transfers to Catholic and has 29 catches for 381 yards with 5 TD’s. (This while missing multiple weeks with knee injuries.) And I don’t believe it was a situation where they went to play with less talented kids so they were targeted more. Catholic had another 1,000 yard receiver in Waryn Ebelhar. Cameron Woodard had 600+ yards receiving. Miles Edge had 32 catches for 338 yards. Then Edge, and the QB Atwell, combined to rush for almost 1400 yards. In 2024 Owensboro attempted 209 passes while rushing 286 times in 12 games. Catholic attempted 447 passes while attempting 274 rushes in 15 games.. There are a lot of Red Devil fans that feel Catholic’s offense does a better job of giving their playmakers opportunities. And has for a long time. Catholic doesn’t play a regular season schedule as strong as Owensboro does most years. But outside of OHS playing CAL, and Bowling Green, the schedules aren’t much different. There’s an offensive philosophy that has been in play that no longer fits a lot of the Owensboro players, parents, & fan base. There are just so many die hard Red Devil fans many parents refuse to move their kids.
