Calico Jack I truly believe you and I could coach Owensboro to 8 wins in most years. (Idk about you but I personally have never coached at any level.) So if Ganaway is the hire I don’t think he comes to OHS and suddenly goes 4-7. I, and other folks associated with OHS I talk to, were just expecting a more proven hire now that OHS was finally stepping outside the program.

That's what I mean......that he would do just fine at Owensboro based off the fact that he was able to win any at all at Ohio County.

Owensboro is a great job, but here is the thing..... (most) coaches at already good/great jobs? (Seldomly) Don't leave for others of the same, especially if it requires a move of uprooting their family.

If there was life changing, put you in a different tax bracket type money? Then that's a different story.

In Alabama you see it. In Texas you see it. In Georgia you see it.

Not here.

Another example of my most previous post.

1-Beechwood's new coach? He won 2 games the prior 2 or 3 years at a bottom feeder in Ohio. Beechwood's admin probably knew he was at a dumpster fire, yet they also knew he could coach (came from a very solid pedigree also) & that he had the IT for what would mesh with Beechwood & vice versa.

2- Beechwood didn't have any coaches with state titles on their belt from previous stops. Why would those guys leave if they were already competing for and winning them at their current place (unless it was going from private to public and potentially making more money, getting back into KTRS).

If you see current head coaches, in good situations (by good, I mean, they didn't have just a couple solid years, but that the place is set up for success....ie: Owensboro) leave for another truly good job? You can almost always connect it to one/or a mix of the few reasons:

A- They don't have to move due to lack of distance (ex: taking jobs within Jefferson County, Fayette County, NKY, etc)

B- The coach and/or their spouse is from said school/location.

C- Not married and/or no kids in school

D- Coach & spouse have kids and are empty nesters.

E- Coach & spouse are empty nesters, but are moving to get closer to grown kid(s).

F- Coach (and/or spouse) retired full pension KTRS, go private and can truly double dip (or, coach leaves KTRS for private, and goes back to KTRS due to retirement reasons just being better- if staying in education)

100% it is, while also knowing not everybody can get the keys to a Corvette without wrecking it…or in some cases, taking those keys to the Vette and turning it into a Maybach.

….or, if you’re somewhere that isn’t very good? Schedule people that suck worse than you do.

It’s really not anymore complicated than that.

There are a lot of coaches that when you watch their team play you can sit back and say man they are getting everything out of their teams possible and play disciplined.  There are also coaching staffs that win a lot of games that you cannot say that about but are only winning against teams that they have more talent than the team they are playing.  If I'm Owensboro I'm going after the coaches that win ball games with less talent because when those guys get talent look out.  The latter coaches only get so far because eventually you are going to play somebody the close to the same amount of talent so you better be able to coach.

The guys out there winning any at all across the state at “Three Stoplight County University”? Then when they have some talent & make the most of it (ie: done things at said school that have never been done before and/or haven’t been done in decades like district titles, even moreso a region title or beyond in a couple of those along with a state title appearance + maybe even winning it )?

This!! And what you said in the post before that too. I can’t remember what those Ohio County teams played like under him. I just know there were 7 wins. Then 1 win. Then 4 wins. This is with a schedule that consisted of programs like Muhlenberg County, Grayson County, Butler County, Hancock County, McLean County, Daviess County, Breckenridge County,& Hopkins County Central. I was convinced OHS would go after someone more proven since we finally went outside the program. I would have hired Rector if those two were my final candidates. He has shown he can coach at multiple stops. I’ll be in Rash to cheer on my Red Devils in 2025 but I’ll be skeptical until I see us play….

I think Ganaway is down in Florida. You can follow him on X.  He’s involved with under Armour.  Rector is in Nashville and not thinking he’s coaching at the moment. Demarcus Ganaway and Brian Rector.

Ganaway works a lot with The UC Report which is major recruiting service. So that should be something that parents and players would be excited about. Seeing what  Power 4 talent looks like and being able to push the young men on the team to reach for those aspersions.
