Super impressive result for the Jags and I look forward to the third iteration of BG/Cooper state finals. I'm pretty fond of the Cooper folk on here so I’m sure it will be a fun week!

Congratulations!

My current feelings: That was tough to say the least.  I knew going into the game Highlands was going to have to be flawless on both sides of the ball or at least close to it.  When you

  • Dang, Highlands got curb stomped in the second half!

Congratulations!

There are some more of them here on BGP that don't post, you would really like them too.  Like you said, good people, just like Ryle, just like this whole area up here in NKY.

Made the trip up to Cooper for this one tonight. Talk about a tale of two halves. My crew said at the second half kickoff that a Highlands score might put the game away. Two fumbled snaps and an interception later (about 3 minutes of game time total) and it was over, just in the other direction.

Obviously the offense will get the praise tonight but I was super impressed with the tenacity of Austin Alexander and Mike Mulvihill on the defensive line for Cooper. It seemed like they made every play.

I watched the first game between these two teams. I thought Highlands out played the Jags overall but Cooper hit big plays to win.

This one was very different.

Wow! That was a fun game to be at, and tale of two different halves. Congrats to Highlands on a great season. The first half played out perfectly in regards to them controlling the clock and for the most part keeping Coopers offense off the field. The second half was a total different story, and once Cooper got the momentum after the turnover to start the second half it was all Cooper after that. Even more impressive that Cooper was without their stud running back in Keegan Maher. However Ryker Campbell stepped in and played great at RB with multiple big plays.

Cooper is definitely the better team, and I guess Frank on here was correct with his post about it being a huge upset of Highlands we’re to win. I know I thought Cooper would win, but I definitely didn’t see a running clock coming in this game, but man what a statement by Cooper. You could tell they have been here before, and are on a mission.

Austin Alexander who had a birthday today, could not be stopped in the second half on either side of the ball. Highlands line looked like they did a decent job in the first half on him. However, in the second half it seemed like he was in the backfield the majority of the time causing havoc.

Congrats again to the Cooper staff and players on making it back to State! It’s not easy being the team with the target on their back all year. Yet all they have done is respond to every challenge and win every game. Now go finish the deal and beat BG next week! Third time is the charm!

Go Jags!

It’s amazing having two schools in the same city so close to each other, both playing for state titles in the two biggest classes. Just shows how much talent is in that area right now!

Cooper was not only down it’s starting rb in Maher but also down their starting Defensive Tackle in Colton Dean.

Stanton, Campbell, Christian Brown, Carson Clark and Wilhite all adopted the “next man up” mentality and filled in nicely.

Lastly, what a HUGE birthday gift for Austin Alexander who played a phenomenal game on both sides of the ball and got the W as the cherry on top!

Good luck next week Jags! I hope all of NKY gets behind BW, Ryle and Cooper to support them in bringing home 3 titles!!

Congrats to the Cooper Jags , obviously a tale of two halves . Back to back drives coming out of halftime resulting in snaps over the qbs head and Cooper recovering. That’s a hard beast to stop when you let a team like Cooper start a drive inside their own 30 yard line and they’re the last team you want to let get in a groove. Throw in a fumbled kick off return and a recovered snap in the endzone!  To me this was more Cooper taking advantage of Highlands self destruction than second half game planning or adjustments . To make matters worse throw in the loss of Gabe Williams to a hip drop tackle in the first half , starting linebacker Issac Neiman to an ACL the week prior.

For Cooper this was the most dominant performance I’ve personally seen Austin Alexander have . Their receivers are always really impressive after the catch , last night was no different.  Hearing the loss of their starting Rb was unfortunate and I wish him a speedy recovery, with that said…. Ryker Campbell is a dude and might actually be better .

Good luck in state to Cooper and I’m glad to hear these two will continue to play .

I think it’s also important to note to all of the Bluebird fans that this was a great season. Not the result we ultimately wanted but being as young as we are after loosing 26 seniors last year , I’d say the future is bright! We return our whole O - Line , tons of Sophomores and Juniors , back to back Freshman seasons , an undefeated JV season and great Middle School talent in the pipeline. We’re in a very good place in the Fort !!

Come on man! Subtle jabs that a 40 point win was all bc Highlands self destructed and not really any adjustment and planning from the staff of Cooper. I’m guessing hard tackling by Cooper had nothing to do with the fumble on the kickoff, kid probably just threw backward on purpose. Hip drop tackle comment another subtle statement. You don’t drop 61 on a team only because the opponent as you say “self destructed”.

Its all good. Nobody at Cooper cares how anyone else thinks. 1-0 is the goal every week. So far, the team has done the job 14 times. Next Saturday they go for 15 and the chance to be the 1st ever state championship team from Randall K Cooper high school.

Injuries are a part of football. Lord knows Cooper has had their fair share. I wish Williams a speedy recovery as he is a very good player for the birds. Hopefully Rio gets his knee taken care of too. Kid battled all night. One tough young man.

High school coaches don't teach hip drop tackles....it just happens. The road next year will be filled with good teams. Good luck to the Birds and all that great young talent. Might want to work on that O line's  speed and quickess.

Agreed

Seems awfully quiet from the Ft. Thomas contingent.

That happens..... especially when you lose three in a row to a team.
