High school coaches don't teach hip drop tackles....it just happens. The road next year will be filled with good teams. Good luck to the Birds and all that great young talent. Might want to work on that O line's  speed and quickess.

I believe I heard the HHS HC in the past state he needed 4 years to get guys bigger. Didn't particularly like HHS tradition of having quick fast lineman. Maybe he should do some rethinking..........

  • Not only the talent, but the multiple solid football programs of all ages developing that talent.

  • Dang, Highlands got curb stomped in the second half!

Super Impressive from Cooper last night.  They didn't get rattled down at halftime and came out and took advantage of turnovers and taking the momentum they had and hitting the gas.

Congratulations to them!  It's not easy to get back to the State Championship game.

For Highlands, you had a very good season, but just lost to a great team.  They will be back in 4A next season.  Look out 4A!

Going to be a great game in the Finals.  BG will need to play their best game of the year to battle this Cooper team.  Will be a very tough game.

So why, late in the 3rd quarter and beyond, trailing by 4 scores, is the Highlands offense going with runs up the gut? How does it make sense to allow the clock to become an additional nemesis?

My current feelings:

That was tough to say the least.  I knew going into the game Highlands was going to have to be flawless on both sides of the ball or at least close to it.  When you get to this point of the playoffs you can not even think about winning if you are losing the turnover battle as bad as we did last night..... period end of story.  Congratulations on Cooper capitalizing on those miscues by the Birds. Cooper had several guys step up big, well done.

It was a great honor and privilege to be a loud voice for the Highlands Bluebird nation this season, I realize some liked me and some maybe were annoyed by me....  To that I say this:

Appreciate the @theguru for giving us this platform to showcase our love of our programs, to that "Thank You".

Onto 4A my Birds will go, I realize the teams will change but the battles between the lines will stay the same.  We will be able to reignite the rivalry with our fellow NKY Foe Cov Cath (maybe back to twice a season instead of once like the last few years), PLUS many other top 4A programs that come with moving to 4A.

Good luck on Saturday to the Jags!

Now I will be packing my bags and heading over to the Basketball threads...

GO BIRDS!!!

BEAT COLONELS!!!

ps...  Please don't take the Rocky clip to heart... The Birds would welcome a rematch any time and any day....Don't want anyone to spin it in a way that the Birds (or Frank) will ever run from a challenge or battle.

Forgot to also thank @Brennan_Bucher for such a TERRIFIC run being the voice of the Bluebirds via Bluebirdsradio.com and on the Youtube channel when the games were Livestreamed, and the radio shows at Barleycorn's.

Absolutely Fantastic job BB, Highlands will have some enormous shoes to fill with your departure.

When was the last time Highlands had a running clock on them?

Maybe at the end of the Weinrich era in one of the CovCath games, but I wouldn't swear to that.

Maybe the Raffertys Bowl vs South Warren 2022.

Saw the halftime score and thought Highlands was going to pull the "light upset".

34 points in the 3rd quarter is absolutely bananas! From double digit lead to running clocked in a quarter and a half is crazy! Cooper came out from halftime absolutely on fire ?

@FrankNicodemus thank you, sir! It’s meant a lot to be able to call the birds with the support of the great community! Was quite the run….The Highlands Broadcasting program is WORLD CLASS. I’m sure whoever they find to continue the sportscasting will be very good at what they do. Now onto hoops!

This what happens when you isolate your db on single coverage and your safety is 8-10 yards from the line of scrimmage! Alexander is bigger and faster than both of those guys. Cooper made changes at half and Highlands got by with it in the first half. Highlands self destruction didn’t help but they were out coached in the second half. Still proud of my Birds and good luck to Cooper!

Unfortunately Williams suffered a broken tibia from this play. Losing him in the 1st sucked. Hope for a speedy recovery!
