Can CovCath play spoiler two weeks in a row? Definitely the underdog, again, but that role can be a mighty motivator as well as a trip to Kroger Field on the line. Cash Harney will have to be EXTRA special again and the defense has to find ways to limit FC. Give me FC in a close one.

Frankin County - 28

CovCath - 21

Cheering hard for the Colonels!

ZERO doubt.

IMO, this is silly to even consider possible. And it isn't going to be a reason the Colonels lose if Franklin County beats them. Franklin County is extremely good.

It is silly to consider a team coming off an upset road win over the 4-time defending state champs as a 28-point underdog (both CalPreps and Massey predicted a 42-14 score) may not be as sharp the next week on the road? Agree to disagree.

Post game we will over analyze the game, win or lose, and point to effective passing games, effective running games, turnovers, untimely penalties, questionable play calling, and stout defensive line play as reasons the game was won or lost. But being ready to go emotionally and mentally at the start of the game is a factor and it's up to the coaches on both teams to have their players ready to go.

I do agree Franklin County is extremely good.

Going to be an interesting game here Covington coming off a huge win over Boyle Co. Franklin Co is back in the Semi Finals again like to see this one live but I’ll be at PT. I’m taking CovCath in a tight one.

I think Cov Cath wins unless Cash Harney and Dylan Gaiser are completely worn out.

1. A harder schedule - 3-2 vs. Ryle, Highlands, Beechwood, Johnson Central and Boyle preps you for games late in the playoffs. Not entirely their fault, but FC has played one team in that tier and they’re on the bottom with Beechwood.

2. It’s asking a lot for a freshman QB to beat this defense. I remember the speed of the game was too fast for the PT QB last year and he’s a G5 commit. Almost of those dudes are back and that’s reflected in the passing defense numbers this year.

I'll be rooting for Covington Catholic.  I was very impressed with the toughness, heart, and sportsmanship their players had last week.  Don't take your foot off the gas the main goal is 2 more wins.

I say CCH will have a few interceptions on the freshman QB . Put some pressure on the kid, let him make some mistakes in your favor.

Is FC running back Moore back from injury? Remember hearing he got hurt towards end the season and never really hearing what had happened or how long he was out.

If a freshman QB is starting for Franklin Co. I would be really surprised if they beat this Cov Cath team. Unless it’s Tim Couch Jr or something.

My comment is 100% about the mental focus and energy, not about how well they perform. You wondered if the Colonels would be able "to get up" for this game. Every team playing in the state semifinals will get up for this week's game.

The Flyers’ run defense is legit and special teams units are elite. Cov Cath will have to find a way to get Cottrell blocked and Franklin moves him all over the box. The freshmen QB made a lot of mistakes. He will be a good player and has a live arm but he was confused on some coverages and the pick 6 before halftime against Bardstown simply can’t happen.

Franklin, get your scoreboard fixed.

I think you have these reversed.  I think it's just a typo as you alluded to it in the text.

Ahh, yep, I had those reversed. Thanks for catching that!

Franklin Co. 27-24.
