Barren County 23 Glasgow 7

Final.

Barren County is 5-0 for the first time since 1995.

Is Barren better than normal or is this more of a down year for Glasgow?

Probably a mix of both.

Glasgow has a pretty distinct issue stopping physical teams who take the battle straight to them, IMO. Barren completed one pass last night. John Myers has the Trojans motivated and well coached. You can tell it just by their demeanor. I also think the Scotties have a bit of an issue with inexperience at the quarterback position. It's obvious they miss Easton Jessie. There were a good amount of busted plays where the backfield was not in sync post snap and outside of the WR Martin there is limited options for the Scotties to beat you down field. I assume they will improve as the season goes though. Glasgow does have some really good looking kids out there, I have to wonder if some of the problems are simply scheme related.

Barren has had a tremendous year and Glasgow I am still not sure how good they are. We are going to see soon on how good they are.

Will this win move Barren Co. up to the #1 slot in the KHSAA RPI 6A ranking? lol

Who are these guys? Are they playing cupcakes, or are they for real?

The Trojans have one solid win in my eyes and that is over 4A Warren East. That is a game they also gave up 52 but still came out on top.

In short, you don't have to take them seriously. They have a very light schedule and one of the easier 6A districts in the state. Their RPI will look nice and all, but I don't think they make it past round two when it matters.

Gotcha, I'd never heard of them before, I remember people asking about who could be a 6A dark horse...

Cupcakes galore, if Warren East is your best win you’re in trouble. Having said that I do like what John Myers is doing with the Trojans and you won’t see many teams running the Wing T much better than those young men. They have really good size up front, great QB play executing it about as well as one can ask and a couple big boys that run hard.

John Myers the former Russellville coach. Now Barren County has my interest. I missed that they hired Myers.

That said Barren County is not top 10 worthy, Strength of schedule is weak. Their SOS is one of the 2 or 3 worst in 6A. But you have to start somewhere. Myers should beef up the schedule next year and build on from there. I am interested in seeing what he does at Barren County.

By all accounts, Coach Myers is a fantastic coach. They smoked that hire.  I think he will have success at Barren that they are not accustomed to and it will be a refreshing change to their community. I will say this much, I would put Barren Co's facilities up against about anyone in the state. They have invested and are reaping some rewards with their return on it currently.

I looked up the word “cupcake” in the 6A football dictionary and found this schedule for Barren County so far in 2024: Metcalfe County, Trigg County, Warren East, Monroe County and Glasgow…… the all powerful Greene County up next.

All the people shaming BC should keep in mind they have been bad for a lot of years and there’s no shame in scheduling teams you can compete with. Are they state championship caliber of course not but do they have a chance to win only their second district championship ever yes they do. As far as Glasgow they lost 17 seniors last year and then had 3 more starters transfer out including one to BC, they only have 7 seniors and only play about 3 of those but they have a ton of juniors around 20 and should get better as the year goes along. If you just go off scores I think Glasgow has a chance in their district as the perceived best team Adair had a similar game with Monroe Co as they did. Now I know Hart is also pretty good but it’s kind of hard to tell how good because they haven’t played a very tough schedule as well.
