January 27, 200719 yr Actually I'd rather see Duke win than UNC. UNC is second behind UK in total wins, so every loss counts. Duke will never catch up, but UNC or Kansas could. That said, I have much more respect for the UNC fans, however I can't ever force myself to root for them. :thumb: Very good!!!!

As far as on BGP your threads (McRoberts as POY) for example don't help. I can't see anyone other than a Duke fan believing this, so of course your going to get the responses that you get. I would think that since you double as a Notre Dame fan as well, you would be used to this type of respones. It seems that LSURock can't seem to stay out of a Notre Dame thread either, but I really doubt that it lesses his fervor for the Tigers. You would experience the same response if you were a fan of the Cowboys or Yankees.
January 27, 200719 yr There was a poll in USA Today around the beginning of the basketball season listing the "most hated" programs in the nation. Duke was number one by a large margin, so it isn't just on BGP that they get trashed by opposing fans.

The way that they are the same is some people just love to hate winners. I learned the way they are different the other day watching ESPN. Duke to many is the ultimate representation of the rich, and white priviledge. Duke wins NC's and basketball games with more white players than almost any other school and its students are mostly upperclass white kids. Duke does what the Vanderbilts and Stanfords struggly to do on a consistent basis and in college athletics that simple is not acceptable to the majority. Most people think Duke wins not because Coach K is one of the best of all time or because kids with 30 on the ACT can play some basketball too but because those in power(NCAA, ACC officials) want them to win.

All those teams are hateble/lovable. It happens. Add the Lakers to that list. A lot of hate for the Lakers on BGP. A lot of heat for tOSU, UK, the Steelers, the Bengals, the Cubs. Lots of hate on here. Granted most people are hometeam fans so they get less heat.
