Boyle County does not have a path to a mythical National Championship. That doesn't mean the win, their team, and their overall success as a program isn't impressive.

At the risk of not being fun, I have to say folks need to slow way down.

Definitely no fun.

For nostalgia purposes:

Some SK backers in that thread said they would be loaded the next year so in 2012 they gave up over 50 pts to Scott County and finished 7th in 6A calpreps ratings. They did go 9-4.

A LOT more would have to happen. Most teams finishing nationally in the top 5-10 play a national schedule and at minimum have a fairly competitive district that they play out of. Things that could boost Boyle’s current ranking would be St Edward going on to win state for OH again and of course some other teams ranked in it losing. Of course, who teams are that are lost to and how their games are lost are determinants too. I think Boyle could finish top 20-25-ish, which is still a hell of an accomplishment. Just my thoughts on how the national scale relates to rankings and more similar.

What do you mean it don't work that way!  I want to know what Dean Paul and BluegrassFootballFan think?

You’re just not going to get the national top 10 because Boyle is a small rural school in Kentucky and there are too many “big boys” to crack that list.  Some may think that is not fair but perception that Kentucky schools can’t compete on a national level is reality.

St. Edward plays Elder this Friday which I will have big interest in because St. X goes to the Pit next Friday. Elder is 3-0.

This is a fan thing . I guarantee the team and coaches are not concerned about a mythical title that doesn't mean anything . Their mind and focus is on Scott County the next game and the 4A title which is real.

After a dominating win over Lakewood St. Edward the Rebels are number fourteen in the nation according to MaxPreps and 33rd in the nation according to calpreps.

We all know Boyle has to win out, which will be a piece of cake, and assuming they do win out does Boyle have any chance to win a National Championship?  What is the highest they can realistically finish?

It takes more than one really impressive win. They need to win vs a MUCH more challenging schedule to even be considered for a national championship.

Nonexistent. But it was cool seeing the Calpreps link to Trinity finishing second. Didn’t realize that happened.

It is definitely more about the fans.

Later on in the season Cinci St. X will play Trinity and Elder. So depending on how Elder does against St. Edwards and then how well Cinci St. X does against trinity and elder, we might be able to conjur up a hypothetical on how trinity would fair against St. Edwards.

Finally someone I agree with. Thanks Mr. Dean.

A schedule like Trinity?
