If this thread follows suit along with every other past Lincoln County thread, we should all be hearing a litany of reasons from a select few Lincoln County faithful about how everything was wrong with the coach they just ran off.

Can't everyone see that the discipline problems with the kids are purely the coach's issue and not an issue with the kids themselves and the way they were raised?

If only they had the right coach, Lincoln County would put IMG Academy to shame.

I would agree that taking a week off, during the season, is a very bad look. You guys can't say you'd be ok with your HCs leaving the program in the hands of his assistants.

Did they have a game that week?

 

I know several schools that take fall break week off if they don't have a game.

I know that I have heard Mayfield, Bowling Green, Owensboro to name a few that have taken the week of fall break off if they don't have a game.  I am pretty sure that I heard Campbellsville may also do this.

I guess those aren't successful programs.

Putting words in my mouth there. Maybe becuase fall break wasn't a thing when I was in school my mentality is different. I feel like it's a bad look to leave the program you're in charge of for a week during the season.

Lincoln didn’t have a game that week and you are spot on with those other programs. It’s a pretty common thing for the many that have week long fall breaks if they can time their open week up with it. Extremely common.

 

Lincoln looking for their 3rd head coach since 2018. 

Will Lincoln go after Levi Rogers from Casey Co.? He was an assistant there previously if I am correct. Then if so, where does Casey Co. go? 

Was the week off a chance for kids to have a mental health break? Heal up? Maybe half the team would have been out of town and not truly a solid week of practice? 

I can't imagine this is a very appealing job for many.

I have no iron is this fire but we took off fall break when we had no game and played for 3 straight state championships. I don't think I went out of town but it would not have changed a thing. I have done it both ways.

I just looked...they played Boyle Co the week after their open week (Fall Break)...now we know, had they practiced, they surely would have beaten Boyle by a couple of TD's!

I think the issue is players' families going on vacation during fall break. As a coach do you practice with 10-20 kids showing up? What do you get out of a practice with over half your team not there?

 

As Coach Preston said I have no dog in this fight. I just think that is silly to hold against him because it is common practice in very successful programs. I would guess 3/4 of coaches try to get the open week and fall break the same week.

Maybe the KHSAA Should mandate a fall break / open week for ALL teams/schools ? It also may help with Officials,  since there is a shortage of them as well.

Sounds great...mandatory dead week 1st week of October...dead week over x mas break, and a dead week 1st week of April to go along with 2 week dead period in summer.

With schools have different fall breaks and with scheduling not sure that would be possible.
