I am afraid because of how Brown and the Bengals have operated before with pretty much every player beside Burrow.  If they let him hit the open market at the end of next season (2025) they will no way match what he will get offered. If they wait and see or let the Jefferson deal go first they are probably going to have to play even more than if they just go on and do it now and lock him in into the future. imo They have almost $60 million in cap space. The team is currently scheduled to have more than $59.4 million in 2024 salary cap space, fourth most in the league, according to overthecap.com. They in my humble opinion need to get this done this offseason.

 

A few things it takes two to tango. I am sure Chase and his agent know it’s in his best interest to wait until Jefferson signs his deal. This way Chase and his agent can use that as the new template to work off of. Which you are correct the Bengals are never the one to set the market. They always work their deals off of other players at similar positions. So Bengals are probably waiting for the Jefferson deal, but also I’m sure Chase and his agent want to wait until Jefferson signs too. 
 

Which in regard to Chase I am not worried about it. Much like with Burrow, the Bengals always end up paying their number one WRs. Chase isn’t going anywhere. The problem has always been signing their number two WR, once their number two WR gets looked at as a possible number one. 

Chase is going to get paid by the Bengals. Which will probably happen shortly after Jefferson signs.

The Bengals also re-signed exclusive rights QB Jake Browning to a two-year contract through the 2025 season.

Trey Hendrickson is demanding to be traded!

Hendrickson asking for a trade right now surprised me. Am I missing anything here? I know he's 29, is he just hoping a trade will lead to one last BIG contract?

Apparently he is even considering retirement if he doesn't get a new contract before the season starts.

I'd say he's threatening retirement. I don't believe for a minute you go from I want something more long term, to I'm just going to call it quits.

Just last year.  I believe he is to make $15 million this year.
