Redemption Road Comes Full Circle For Defenders and Bruins

Records: Both are 10-3

BGP 6A Rankings: Station (#6) | Ballard (#7)

Round 3 Results: Station beat Ryle | Ballard beat Central Hardin

Series History: Ballard leads 2-1 all-time

Teaser Preview: When they met in Week 4, Bryan Station and Ballard had both been relegated to 6A's second tier. Trinity and Male had put them in their place, however temporary.

Station emerged with a hard fought 28-21 win over the Bruins behind the legs of Kalen Washington and big play ability of JT Haskins Jr. and Demond Green.

In the aftermath, neither team stood still for long.

Both are back in the semifinals for the second straight season after finding their footing in the back half of the schedule. They're reaching for the top tier.

After the bitter disappointment of last year's semi setbacks, one is guaranteed a spot at Kroger Field.

The running games are a virtual push, as Washington and Bruins running back Journey Wyche are proven difference makers with comparable numbers, but Station's superior consistency throwing the ball may prove the difference. Ballard's Larry Irvin completed just 38% of his passes for five touchdowns and eight interceptions against ranked opponents, including a 10 for 29 night against the Defenders.

Regardless of who wins, a drought will see some rain. Bryan Station last played for a state title 24 years ago. Ballard hasn't seen a state final in nearly 40.

  • Great morning for our program. Great to see so many former players and coaches show up to support our team. You never know who will show up. Awesome to see some of our NFL guys make an appearance.

  • We don’t pass. We lead 6A in rushing. Almost 3000 yards

That Bryan Station logo never stops making me laugh, not sure why I find it so utterly hilarious, but I do.

For the game, I like Station to win here by 10+.

Bryan Station 28-20.

The way Station's defense is playing right now, it's hard to go against them. I like their offensive nucleus more, too.

Give me the Defenders by two touchdowns.

Station moves on to play for it all.

Run the ball for 150-plus yards here and that team wins.

Really think it's a toss up.

Last time, Ballard ran for over 100 but Station had close to 200.

Ballard has improved. Bruins 31, Station 28

Ballard flips it. Bruins 14-7. Cold temps become 12th defender for the Bruins, and negate Station's passing game.
