Judging by what Hendo just did to Christian County. Will most likely be another shoot out in which we likely lose because we haven’t been able to finish out a close game all season. Soooo much for coach Fallin to work on this off season…. After tonight’s game I’m in next season mode unfortunately. This will be the earliest playoff exist in at least 5 yrs. Going off memory.

I hope they surprise you.

  • I think the Maroons were not getting very much respect in the predictions thread. Hopefully they have finally earned it!

  • These two teams and Graves County were pretty close in RPI. Anyone know who will have inside edge on top seed now? This was a very consequential result.

  • Congrats to the Maroons. Their offense can do damage. As for Owensboro this game solidified to me what I’m sure others knew weeks ago. The Red Devils have no shot this year. Very likely we’re out in s

I kinda thought this was a game we could struggle in. Madisonville had the speed and size to compete with us and they did. Hats off to them.

are 3 way ties determine from RPI?

Yes

Congrats to Madisonville on the win. The Red Devils have a lot of fans that look at things through Red & Black lenses. This team was flawed from jump in a lot of key areas. And once this staff refused to play select kids both ways it was, IMO, a build for the future. Nothing I've seen this year showed me OHS would make it passed the 2nd round of the playoffs. Even before this loss to the Maroons. Now next year should be a lot different. I'll be disappointed if OHS isn't at least a 5A semi finalist in 2024.

Maroons only scores 14 on Union and Graves though. I can’t reconcile that in my head.

Graves defense has been pretty good all year especially after the Owensboro game.  That side of the ball has came together and is playing really good football. Even in the Owensboro game they had a ton of 3rd and long situations but missed tackles and couldn’t get off the field. This final week or games will be huge for seeding due to RPI.

When was the last time O lost a district game?

They were 1-3 in district in 2017 with losses to Christian County, Apollo, and Graves County. Prior to that, the last district loss had come against Madisonville in 2012.

Owensboro's defensive woes aside, MNH's stars came to play. Kanyon Johnson passed and ran for 448 yards and threw three touchdowns. Markezz Hightower produced 259 yards from scrimmage and accounted for six scores. Neither is a senior.

Johnson and Hightower (#2). Pic cred to Matt Hughes for the Madisonville Messenger

Why is coach Fallin this way? All the top teams do it. If the player is the best at that position, let them play. There’s about 3 players on the offense that could be used on defense. But even then at this point I don’t think it would make us much better. The way we miss tackles is embarrassing to say the least. To top it off this the slowest Red Devil defense I’ve ever seen.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the go ahead TD call as of yet.  OHS punches the ball out on the 3 yard line and it rolls out of the end zone but the official ruled it a TD.  I love our officials and realize they have an insanely difficult job, but I would have like to have seen the game settled with that call being corrected.

After seeing Madisonville vs Apollo, I thought the game could be close.  I expected OHS to find a way to win it.  They could be in for another tough week with that Henderson offense coming in.  Its my understanding that RPI splits the 3 way tie, but the two teams left comes down to head to head.  If that is true and Graves beats McCracken and OHS loses to Henderson, the Devils could end up with the 3 seed.  Wild turn of events.

@ApolloFan98Madisonville last TD - fumbled at 3 to 4 - rolled through EZ and out of bounds.  Should be O ball.  Official right there.  That’s laughable.

A bunch of Mville kids grab their heads as it’s an obvious fumble  but the home cooking side judge let's it go as does back judge.   No communication at all because they know it would be O ball.  I’d love to know the back and side judge.

The video is on Twitter/X as well, that was a terrible call.

What I watched of the game O was on the wrong end of most calls.  Several holds, etc. just ignored on Madisonville, but that call was the worst.  Go stand 20 yards away from an object and it was an easy catck by either of 2 officials.  Both chose to blatantly ignore, no discussion.

That's a REALLY bad call!  I can give the back judge a little break because when the ball is out and as the play continues he is likely shielded from seeing the ball.  BUT the side judge has to make that call.  He say the ball come out and go through the endzone as it would have had to have rolled out of his vision beyond the pylon.  Wow!

Yea, I hate bringing up officials as a reason for a win or a loss and I am sure the Devils could have played much better but this is pretty bad.  That ball is out at the 3-4 yd line.  Rough for the OHS kids.

Big win by the Madville congrats guys!
