Bob is an excellent football coach and has had a career that 99.5% of the guys that get into coaching would dream of achieving and experiencing.

Even if he is not the HFC at Highlands next year, life will go on and he will have an incredible career to celebrate. Or, a really smart school and administration will dig up a  bunch of money and he will get a great job because he is an elite football coach. 

The ESPN generation. If we're not winning at the level WE want fire the coach because people are just dying to be here. By the way, the guy with the shortest tenure ever as HHS HC has his team in the semis... again. As I said in a different post there are a lot more really good programs headed up by really good coaches than 10-15 years ago. Have a great Thanksgiving Chief!!

Highlands has the play makers and athletes. For whatever reason, the team fizzles out by the middle of the post season the last few years. He and his staff don't seem to have the "it" factor in Caketown as previous coaches.

Not sure about today, but in the past you just needed an apartment and phone number.  Also, some families with kids going to different Ohio schools shared apartments so kids could play sports, while living in KY.

Don’t think so. But if his son wants to play for him at Moeller. They’re going to find a way. It would even be Moeller’s first rodeo. I know for a fact awhile back there was a kid from Edgewood Ky that went to St. Pius for grade school that played baseball for them. 

 You Highlands people do this every year then you denie it show Sphire some respect. He wasn't on the field playing lastnight. He is a great coach! Corbin is a legit team.

I think the Highlands folks do have a legit beef. This team was loaded. The last couple of years they have been pretty well stocked. Everyone wants to coach at a place like Highlands, till they treat you like you’re coaching at Highlands. 

Highlands invests in being Highlands. They do so in academics and athletics. And by doing so, they expect a return on their investments. 

This is not your normal school. There is nothing to congratulate in the world of Highlands when you just make it to the Region Final.

I agree 100% in these comments!  Call it whatever you want but when you have a program with as much success as Highlands has had from 1960-2014, you come to expect that State Championships is the expectation year after year.  To VF111 point the investments are there, unfortunately since 2014 the results haven’t been….. heck we haven’t even been to a State Championship game since 2014 to try to bring home a trophy.  That is what stings more than winning a State Title.  

I don’t know what the answer is, I’m not going to bash Sphire or the staff or any players.  Especially the players, they eat sleep and drink football…. Year after year it seems like the players coming thru the ranks of FTJFL and the Freshman/JV teams are just what you get excited about when they put on that Varsity uniform under the Friday Night Lights and then we get punched in the gut for the 3rd straight season.

Bingo. Totally hypothetical here but if Sphire stays on as HC for the next three years and they do not win a championship with the phenom upcoming QB, maybe it will be evident then change is needed in Caketown. This is coming from a Blue Colonel. I know my team is going to have a tough time defending him, that is for sure. 

You have Jared Lerenzen's kid among other great athletes. I did not watch the game last night but was Lerenzen utilized much?

Lorenzen had 9 carries over 90 yards.

Disagree. At one time he may have been a " great coach " but in my opinion he hasn't showed it at Highlands. I watched Highlands for over 60 years and have said these last few years they just don't look like a well coached team. And believe me, I have seen a LOT of high school football.

If you’re getting 10 yards a carry, why go away from that? If the stats are true.
