Maybe I’m a homer, while Mayfield won heavily, I feel like the score doesn’t reflect how the game really was.

I agree. It was a hard fought game, Mayfield out big played them.

Gregory and Katzman are good players, along with several other Graves County players.

I watched a little of the 2nd quarter and Graves was moving the ball. Graves QB looked ok. I can see Graves being a tough out as the season progresses.

10 to 1 in first downs in the first half favoring Graves Co. 3 Eagle interceptions kept them out of the end zone until they hit paydirt in the 3rd quarter. Will be interested in what Graves looks like against PT next week.

I expect a war as always. PT and Graves have played some really good games over the years. Even the 25-7 win a year ago by PT was super close and physical until the end. Graves seems to be several mistakes a game away from being really good. Just have to cut down on some of those and they can beat a lot of people. 

Rough first game for the Cards. I’ll take the win though. As I understand we were missing several key players. Must get better! 

Cole Katzman ran his heart out. Looked really good. I think if Graves would have had Dennis available and had the one-two punch with him and katzman it would’ve made their offense better and possibly could have closed out some of those longer drives. I thought it should’ve been 14-14 at half but it was 21-0.
 

I think if we can eliminate some mistakes we can definitely give Owensboro a game next month. A junior dominated team. I feel good about the rest of the season and beyond.

I can’t wait. The winner of this game likely wins the district. Plus Graves is at home and that has always given us issues.

Graves came out and moved the ball early. The Gregory to Acree connection was money, and they should have kept calling that play until the Cardinals figured it out. 

Truth is, this game could have been alot worse. Mayfield had two touchdowns called back by penalties, and one dropped pass that would have given the Cardinals the ball deep in Eagle territory. On top of that, we took a knee in the redzone to end the game. While Graves had some good drives, they didn’t see the Cardinal redzone much at all.
