O brother!!!

Without going into what he said or paraphrasing what he said.  My question is what’s going to be the punishment from both West Virginia and possibly the NCAA??

Won’t even get to the point that the NCAA has a say, IMO. WVU officials are in an office working out the fine details or letting him go now.

I heard the recording.  It was bad.  It was not accidental.  Huggins knew full well what he was saying.  It didn't help that the radio personalities (if you can call them that) added to the inappropriateness of the conversation.

Bob Huggins, the longtime West Virginia men's basketball coach, used an anti-gay slur in an interview with a Cincinnati radio station on Monday, an incident he later apologized for in a statement.

The situation is under review by both the university and its athletic department.

Does Huggins survive this? Should he? Hearing these comments I immediately thought of Bob Knight and that it sounded like something that he would have said. Huggins has always seemed to have a great relationship with most of the national media and that could help him if they decide not to blow this story up today.

If this makes heavy rotation on ESPN's various yell-fest programs then I could see WVU feeling like they need to move on quickly.

It’s 2023. He doesn’t survive it.

thought this was in the same thread that was already started. Maybe a mod can merge them.

My bad I didn't see this thread. I merged them.

The cynic in me is wondering if, in WVU's eyes, he's won enough games recently to warrant not being fired.

Personally I think he needs to go.  No room for that in todays world.  In addition, the radio station needs to sanction those that were involved as well.  Producers, host, board op, station manager, GM.  All should be gone or at least looking at some serious unplanned, unpaid time off.

I had thought interviews were on a delayed broadcast for that reason, in case someone uttered something they shouldn't.  This time I don't think the radio media is to blame.  When I listened to the interview, Cunningham was obviously surprised because there was a pause, kind of like he couldn't believe what he just heard but then Huggs stated it again.  No, I don't blame the folks at 700WLW, they didn't tell Huggs what to say.  Just my opinion.
