2023 Transfer Portal

Overall I think the portal is a good thing.  But right now, too many kids are doing it because they can, not necessarily because it is the best thing for them.   Once everyone has a few years experience with all of this plus NIL, it will regulate itself.

Six players in the portal or six players on the roster for next year?

Six players in the portal, so far. There will probably only be four guys that return to the roster next year, everyone else will be new.

This is from Google and certainly the portal is partly responsible for this:

By the numbers: 11 conferences are represented in the Sweet 16, tying a record set in 1991 and 2010. The SEC and Big East lead the way with three schools each, followed by the Big 12 with two. The ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12, AAC, WCC, Mountain West, Conference USA and Ivy League all have one.

Now, with the above said, hopefully this happens in college football too and that is spreading out the talent and getting more teams/conferences involved in the playoffs.

Exactly what the NCAA wants to happen! Parity is their goal. It's killing them that a West Coast team hasn't made the final four.

Parity in professional sports, and I consider college athletics professional sports, is ideal.

Do you think Glenn will contribute right out of the gate?

I think the 7-footer they have can be special.  Payne does well with bigs, even though the kid is thin.  7'1" is 7'1".

It's made this tournament pretty exciting.

Yes, I expect Glenn to contribute early, unless they just get a couple of absolute studs out of the portal.

Hey Deuce that may not be a bad thing I used to umpire hs baseball and an old coach was told by people after the season "that you have about everybody back next year. He said well I lost 17 games with them this year, why would I want them back." ?

WKU’s Dayvion McKnight has reportedly entered the portal. Next stop Louisville?

This is one scenario where it is definitely a good thing!
