EXCELLENT job of coaching by Sully! When is the last time CCH trailed the entire game?

Cooper is 2-0 vs CCH in the regionals and both times they were heavy underdogs. Doesn’t matter, Sully’s teams will show up and play, anyone, anytime! ?

Absolutely!!! With that said I do think CovCath did beat Cooper once in the region. It was the 2018 season during Adam Kunkels senior year. It was another great game that Cooper lost by four in that one though.

Not sure how Cooper was a heavy underdog this year as the first game between these two went to overtime.

Good luck to the Jags in the championship.

You’re speaking of the teams behavior? If you’re behind on the scoreboard and think tossing the ball to an official instead of leaving it alone per rule then….all teams have an excuse for losing…

Interesting antics by the ref late in the game, holding the ball and walking it over instead of bounce passing it to the player, ate up 10 seconds. Then didn’t call delay of game warning when Cooper player was quite literally boxing out Ipsaro so they couldn’t get the ball off the floor, ate another 10 seconds.

Delay a game on who? Cooper? Is there such a thing as offensive delay of game? At one point the ball was inbounded and a foul  was called.

No

The ref choosing to walk with the ball a good 10 steps, slowly, while clock is running, instead of what he did majority of the game which was bounce passing the ball to the player inbounding, or moving quickly to the player and tossing it to him, not holding onto the ball while the inbounding player is grabbing for the ball from him.

Not talking about the teams behavior, I thought what the ref did was interesting, that’s all I said.

Yes, it was very interesting.  That whole inbounds sequence was a little disrupted the way I saw it.

Every time these teams play, it is to Coopers pace of play.  It is a slow it down, grind it out game.  That is a testament to Coach Sully.  I take him on my side versus any 9th Region coach!  He is so good and the kids love him.  Cooper and Newport will be the teams fighting it out for the next 2-3 years.  CCH reign of dominating is over with.

Well... is the referee supposed to touch the ball after a made basket? How often is a referee standing under the net?

Well isn’t that ironic @Strawberrybarrow250 when previously you were, what appeared to be, criticizing Coach Sullivan and “Cooper World”, as you put it, that all was well for them because of their “transfer” and they were ready to play anybody….now? Well, said “transfer” missed virtually the entire 2nd half of the HHS game and didn’t play at all in “this” game at all and all of the sudden you’ll take Coach Sully over any coach in the 9th? Huh???

Like I’ve said all along, Coach Sullivan will have his team ready to play anybody, anytime regardless of the situation. This version of the Jags could have easily “mailed it in” given the fact they lost arguably their 2 best players to devastating injuries and yet they simply continue to do what their coach asks them to do which is be resilient, dig in and fight!

Thanks for all the praise of the Cooper Coach and the program, now, but you’re only stating what many in Cooper World have known for a long time. ?

Tuesday night will be a great game between two very good programs led by two coaches who absolutely respect each other for what they have both built and continue to build which is getting their players to leave it all on the floor.

Did they (and Highlands) refuse to play CCH two years ago?

I have huge respect for Timmy, he is a great coach.  I found it hard to believe Cooper wouldn’t schedule them.  I never criticized his coaching, I criticized the fact Cooper refused to schedule CCH, when in fact Cooper has benefitted with transfers as well (Houston, Pouncy, etc.).

Congrats on your win.

Not to let facts get in the way of a great story, but CCH beat them last year in the opening round of the regional tournament. They’ve play many more than two times in the regional and are likely about even. Back to 2023, Cooper has a very good team and we’re clearly the better team yesterday. I would suggest that the game was not as close as the final score.
