I can assure you there was plenty of worry before last night's elimination game.

I haven’t been to a game in a long while due to different circumstances.  I hope to see some of you at the regional tournament. Popcorn is on me.

Well, we'll fire up the Oldsmobile. If we can just get Parker to stop dawdling.

Yes, yes it is. I am not a fan of people claiming a matchup is no longer a rivalry because on team dominates it win-loss wise. If the stands are packed, teams don't like each other, and games are close majority of the time, then in my eyes it is a rivalry.

I would venture to guess, that 99% of the time Mason County doesn't worry about Bracken.

But Mason County has been living rent free in Bracken County's head since the day they joined a district together. Bracken thinks about Mason every 2.7 seconds. Mason thinks about Bracken when they're driving north on the AA.

You (and them) might say this, but I am sure that there is a little worry when playing them.

Many say a rivalry is only a rivalry if it’s nip and tuck over time. I disagree. The all time series between Augusta and Bracken County/Brooksville is lopsided by a lot. But, the attention the games get when the teams get together tell you it’s a rivalry. Generations of former players and fans get all fired up when the games are played. For example, when I was in hs, my parents only had one question when the schedule came out, “When do you play Bracken County?”

Both teams played hard and turned up the intensity on defense. Great crowd and atmosphere and good popcorn.

In the last 2 years? assuredly, Mason County has paid attention to the Polar Bears, but the Polar Bears have talked FAR more about the Royals than the Royals have the Polar Bears. It's still a very lopsided relationship.

But over the course of history? No. There isn't.

Great HS rivalry game, both teams let it all hang out in front of a near packed house.  Just couldn't ask for much more.

Seriously, this crowd is impressive. I've been to a regular season game or two here long ago, but never a post season. If there is a crowd like this, then this IS a rivalry. Wow!

Really nice job capturing the moment here ...

And people are saying this isn't a rivalry.... nonsense.

Starting a couple years Mason has refused to schedule Bracken during the regular season along with GRC.

He gets the Super Duper Seniors Discount, where they actually pay him 25 cents per bag of popcorn.

I'm inclined to say it's not a rivalry, but man...that crowd last night speaks for itself.

This is what I would classify as a situational rivalry.

If you know, you know.

Actual rivalry?  Never will be long term.
