Cooper already had kids with D1 offers. Pavey would have got noticed at Cooper.

First, congratulations to Pavey on his success and hope it continues for him as it sounds like the change in scenery has benefited him.  Second, for blanket statements that NKY coaches don’t promote

  • A bit harsh for a guy who has a state championship appearance under his belt. Winning is hard. Additionally, the grass isn't always greener.

They have a great coach he would be hard to replace!

I expect Alexander will be a High-Major Player.

First, congratulations to Pavey on his success and hope it continues for him as it sounds like the change in scenery has benefited him.
Second, for blanket statements that NKY coaches don’t promote their players as hard as they can is absolutely laughable! Comparing the outcomes and offers of what Ohio gets vs NKY is like comparing an apple and an Orange. There is talent in our region of state but college coaches tend to spend more time in areas that are more populated, that is fact. Case in point is that there are more offers coming out of Lexington and Louisville than NKY. It simply is just different, not necessarily better or worse but it is a numbers game.

Had Pavey played considerably more in NKY along side Alexander, who by the way has a handful of offers, including P5, with 2 seasons to go so there will be plenty more, along with their freshman QB at Cooper who just picked up his first D1 offer with 3 more seasons to go, there is no doubt the young man would have certainly been in a position with a considerable amount of exposure.

Recruiting is a tricky business ESPECIALLY with the advent of the transfer portal which, unless you are a 4-5 star, is a hurdle for ALL HS players. Are relationships different for Cincinnati HS coaches vs NKY HS coaches different, absolutely, but to say NKY coaches aren’t working their tails off to promote their players is absurd!

Best of luck to all the players and coaches on both sides of the river but this discussion is better suited for its own thread.

Now back to the original topic, I think Cooper wil be pretty competitive this coming season with the players that are actually on the team?

Cooper Freshman Keagan Maher ran a 4.53 40 at a football camp this weekend.

One player's story is not proof. There is zero doubt in my mind that a talented 6"3" 305 pound football player in N. Ky will get D1 offers.

We should be able to put together a pretty good list of players from the past 2-3 years that have gone from N. Ky. to Cincinnati for football. All of them were good players that would get football scholarship interest on either side of the river. I would like to see what happens with each of these players and where they play in college.

This is 100% correct.  Ohio football is better for one reason.  Population.  Ohio has 11 million citizens.  Kentucky has 4.5 million.  Big time football at the high school level is 100%  driven by population and if we are being even more honest, its driven by African-American population.  Boone, Campbell and Kenton have between them roughly 380,000 people... maybe a little more.  Hamilton County alone is more than double that.  With more population, comes more talent and more talented kids mean more colleges come calling.  But, does anyone think Michael Mayer couldn't have played at any GCL or GMC school of his choosing?  Better yet, does anyone think that Trinity, X and Male couldn't compete in Ohio?  Of course not... and why??  Population and, specifically, access to African-American population.

Anyway, Cooper is going to be dang good this year.  They will finally end the Battle of Union losing streak and Austin Alexander and Cam O'Hara could both play for any school in Southwest Ohio.

Cooper Junior to be Mason Staton had a good showing at the US Army Combine in Cincinnati today.

Austin Alexander taking on top competition at an Under Armour Camp in Ohio. The NKY crowd already know the name. By the end of the coming season, the rest of the state should, as well.

Some of the moves across NKY the last couple of years just blows my mind. I was told by a guy up at Roger Bacon it's because kids get more exposure from College scouts playing in Ohio. I guess there could be some truth to that.?‍♂️

With all of the access players have to coaches  and coaches to players now it seems hard to think that playing at a certain school will bring that much more exposure. I will give you a move to a well know powerhouse might bring more eyes sooner but in the long run a player or the players high school coach if they put forth the effort should be able to get the exposure.

Based on article on Cincinnati.com Looks like Cooper is adding another nice playmaker from Blanchester.  Jaguars will have some players.

And the Cooper basketball team was just so upset about Ohio transfers showing up at CCH only a couple of years ago that they tried to organize a boycott of voluntarily scheduling CCH.

Well, well, well, how the turn tables.

That’s far from an apples to apple comparison.
