Cincinnati Reds 2023 Preseason “Hot Stove League” Discussion

Featured Replies

I thought I’d start a thread to discuss the Reds prior to the start of the 2023 season.

The Cincinnati Reds announced today that they have released Mike Moustakas, who was designated for assignment on December 22.

Trevor Bauer will be a FA in a few days.  LOL.  But the chances of him returning to Cincinnati are so slim that None probably has a sizable lead.

Just not a whole lot here to talk about.  I guess  we could debate if we lose a 100 games again.

I saw all I needed to see on their "ads" that kept showing up on Facebook about season tickets.  When the top reasons are fireworks, bobbleheads and concerts...and the only mention of actual baseball is just about the marquee opponents, and it comes in last, at number 4...they're telling you it's going to be bad year, without telling you it's going to be bad year.

Sell the team, Bob.  Just sell the team.

Careful what you wish for, next owner would probably try to move them.

I got a call from a rep from the Reds the other day.  "Would you be interested in season tickets? I see you had them in 2019". I kind of felt bad for the sales rep but had to say uh I don't think so.  We barely used our tickets in 2019 when we had them.  This year is going to be so bad.

Does it really matter?

The Reds are my last connection to MLB, if they left Cincinnati I'd probably be done with baseball. Good or (mostly) Bad they've been my team since 74 or 75, I'd hate to lose them.

Well, I've been with them a lot longer than that, only been to 2/3 games at GABP.  I don't care for the ballpark, the product they're trying to sell, or their pricing.  I do keep up with them and that's it.  They can move on tomorrow and my life will go on.

My life will too, I'd just hate to see them become the Memphis Reds or worse the Memphis Blues...or some other city.

They belong in Cincinnati.

73 days until Opening Day!

Given they're stadium situation vs. the situations in Oakland and Tampa there's almost zero chance that a new owner would be able to move them. I don't see a committee recommending a move and, even if they did, I don't see 3/4 of the owners voting in favor of a move.

The Reds are going nowhere and neither are the Bengals.  Bengals are proving that if you build it they will come.  Winning takes care of a lot of things, but Reds management did not appear to get the memo.
