Some of you guys want to call Coach Jewell out over this, get the facts. The biggest problem is not Coach Jewell. The biggest problem is a former Redhound, Tommy Greer and his actions.

Don't know if you are referring to the T.R incident. If you make accusations then be clear. Greer and others advised a young man in order to maintain his integrity and eligibility. Certainly, it was in Bell's interest to not get involved in seeing a player transfer for football reasons with the encouragement of players and perhaps coaches in another city. Should they advise him to stay certainly. Why would Greer, whose son was TR's competition, ecourage him to stay if not having the best interest of school and athlete at heart. Makes no sense. Sitting out a year would have been a bad situation for TR. Others who try to sit out and comeback in Senior season have a tough road.

Using your logic, I guess all the predistrict games we play are a waste of time. Maybe Coach needs to cancel all the out of district games since they are not in line with the goal in mind. They may seem unimportant to you, but we've only won 1 out of the last 9. Thats important and alarming to me.

Ask any former Redhound what beating Bell County means to them. It means a great deal to them. Playing and beating Bell County is a big part of preparing for a run to Louisville. It is a tough early test, and it pays off down the road. A close loss to Bell would serve our team more lessons than blowing out Lex. Christian anyday.

This is about two great teams and 4 great quarters of the best Mountain Football you'll ever see. Its not about a state title, its about PRIDE. Do you know anything about that? I guess you really didn't care if you beat Bell or not, since it had nothing to do with a state title?

Here is the bottom line beating or playing bell co was a big thing when i was playing, before and after. We WILL NOT play them this year, you can grype and make all the outlandish comments about it that you want about not playing them brings shame to the community. (thats the craziest thing i have heard). By supporting this team as a community since this community is what built the team we all need to support the staff. They know what is in the best interest of the team, thats why they are in the position they are in and not us.

Your comment about bringing shame to the Corbin team and Community is so far out in left field that it is almost down right hiliarious. Not playing Bell Co. will not make or brake this team or community. I think you need to keep things in perspective when talking about the rich tradition of Corbin Football. Corbin was fine before playing Bell Co. and they will be fine not playing Bell Co. To say that Coach Jewell has brought shame upon a community and HIS Team by not playing Bell Co. is again RIGHT DOWN HILIAIROUS. I think that you need to relax a little and enjoy life a little more and not take this stuff so serious. Your comment about Corbin dominating Southeast Kentucky football is a pipe dream, times have changed and so do the expectations of the Corbin FANATICS need to. Kids these days are not the same as they were back in the 70's and 80's when Corbin was dominate, not to mention that on most every Corbin State Championship team you had kids that were from the Tri County Area not just Corbin. This is in no way a dig at Corbin for having those kids from other schools playing for them, but I believe the success that Corbin was having in the 70's and 80's was a big reason that alot of those kids came and played for the Corbin Program. Also you have what I call the Billy Hicks effect on this community, he came here and turned this community from a Football community to also a Basketball community. With all that said this is Coach Jewells team and the reasons for him dropping Bell Co. from the schedule is HIS decision. The reasons behind it are alot deeper than you know.

I agree completley except for changing the expectations for our team

This should be the best corbin team in many years, better than the 2004 team that I thought was the best 2a team in the state when healthy.

The 04 team was very good. This years team is loaded and is surely a contender for the crown. Cashen and Coach Farris' O will be lethal this year, most of the defense is back and should feel more comfortable in it. Forbidding injuries, Corbin should be there in the end.

I guess this year will be a true test of the Corbin coaching abilities then eh? Guess we'll see if they can take a team full of talent and do something with it.

What position is French going to play this year?

Alot of options for him and a bright future. Probably some DE/ TE and some split out like last year. Could see him some at OLB aslo just never know, up to the work ethic in the off season.

They were quite a few but it was'nt that big a deal back then. Some been posted another one Don Adkins came over from Laurel.Coach Jewall came from Somerset and his Dad coached at Whitley now thats strange.

Even stranger Greg and Roy's dad was the principal at Lynn Camp when they played at Corbin, nothing wrong with that I guess, but strange. They came from Jackson Co. I think.

Having no stake in Corbin football I might not ought to weigh in here. But having met and talked with Coach Jewell and having seen the way he treats and cares for his plyers, school and community, I think you all are pretty blessed with having this guy as a coach. I wouldn't have minded at all entrusting my son's athletic career to him if we were residents of that area.

:ylsuper:

Some other people need to sit and talk to him and see what he is about before they trash him.

French has been Campbell isn't. French is even coming to the early morning agility sesions.

Just heard some good news for the 2007 Redhounds... Campbell will be down there on Monday.

dogman, you need to explain, by his actions. Tom Greer and I played high school together and he has never said anything negative about Corbin or Jewel to me. This has nothing to do with greer. You can PM me and I can find Greer's home number and prove you don't have a clue in this statement.

I'm glad for Michael. He will have a huge year next year.

Glad to hear the news on Campbell. Apparently everyone has let bygones be bygones and are going to work hard TOGETHER to get Corbin back to prominence. Campbell will be a huge asset to the Redhounds on both sides of the ball and will be noticed and a difference maker. Once Clint graduates, I expect Corbin to go back to a more traditional offense as they have young backs galore. People fail to realize that Michael is just a kid and teenagers always have things come up that get them torn on what to or what not to do. In his case, I assume it would be where to or where not to play. I view this as a good day in Redhound Country.
