2007 Corbin

Featured Replies

Qb at Corbin: Tom Horvath, Terry Jackson, Richie Grisby and Greg Duncum and Duncum was the best passer of them all, I believe he still holds some records at Union College. Tom Horvath was the best athlete of them all. Corbin was a 95.99% running team. Chasen not in the same league IMO with these guys.

I understand that middlesboro quaterback is a senior and will be leaving this year, who will cashen go up against in 2007?

For most of his career, I believe, it has been his friend Kyle Nelson (Bell Co.) In their Senior year, no head-to-head battle. Tragic. A real loss for Southeastern Kentucky high school football fans.

1. Horvath was a good QB, but it was mainly as a leader since he basically just handed the ball off on virtually every play. Baseball was his best sport.

2. Jackson was a good option QB who could not throw.

3. Grigsby was very similar to Jackson.

4. Duncum got to throw some in high school, but not much.

None of these QB's were asked to do nearly as much as Cashen has to, so I really don't see how you can claim that they were so much better. Duncum sure does not agree with you on your observation.

You obviously have an axe to grind..............what exactly is it?

As far as passing ability, in nearly four decades of of watching the Redhounds, I believe Cashen to be the best pure passer we have had. He did not stay, but Floyd Whitaker could toss the pigskin very well also.

I'll admit that I wasn't around to see those ol boys play but have heard stories. People do not realize what we have in Cashen down here. Every team we play other than our traditional rivals are always gushing about how amazing he is. How can some of you not see this? Clint is on a different level than the better portion of QB's in recent years to come out of Eastern KY.

He is a good QB but he completed just under 50% of his passes for 168 yards a game with 12 Tds and 13 INTs. I think there have been several QBs in the area over the last few years better than him. If Corbin is going to make a run at a state title this year he will need to have better #'s that last year.

Those numbers don't match up with earlier comments.

I just meant that's surprising considering earlier Mr. Football/all-state comments.

Agree...He is a solid player but some are putting a cape on him which could lead to a lot of pressure!

You have to remember that Corbin lost every receiver from the previous year, so Corbin's offense and passing game(which is very complex for a high school team)took some time to develop last year. Corbin returns virtually the entire offense with the exception of one offensive lineman, so I would expect the numbers to be much improved this coming season.

Go back and look at what the Russell fans had to say about Cashen, they raved about him.

Maybe they should make it a little less complex...he is a good player/QB..he will have good #'s and Corbin will have a good team, but there have been and are several good QB's in the area over the last several years.

There most certainly have been very good quarterbacks over the past couple years and I'm not slighting them in the least bit. I'd love to have a McCumbers (I think thats his name), Andy Greer, Thomas Frazier, Nick Scalf, Ricky Bowling, Adrian Waldrop, Jeremy Brock, and so on on my team. Some of these players had better stats than Clint but stats do not tell the entire story. If you watch Clint every game of his career like me and many others have, you will see what we are saying. Without any bias believe it or not, Clint is one of the most amazing High School Quarterbacks that I have ever seen. I'm not saying he's going to go onto college, win a heisman, be a first round pick, or even win a state title. I'm just saying that the things Clint does at the Quarterback position is unreal.

Andy Greer put up better numbers than Brian Brohm but nobody is saying Greer is just as good or better are they?
