2007 Corbin

Are there any sophomores who may be big contributors next year? If so, who are they and what positions will they hold?

Guy Lewallen OL/DL

Ryan Fritts RB

Caleb Watkins RB/OLB

All three of these got some action last year. Watkins probably getting the most at LB late in the season. Look for good things from these three right out of the gates this year.

With the solid backfield we have down here already with Campbell, Sewell, and Sanders, I think Fritts may have been the best of the bunch even though he was a freshman. I'm not slighting the starters in the least bit because they no doubt deserved their spots. Fritts just came off to me as a special player. Once he gets a little stronger, he will be a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Watkins really impressed me last season towards the end when he was getting some PT at OLB. Tough kid with a nose for the ball.

I was also impressed with ol Guy when he got some time early in the year. No doubt he has a good work ethic and is willing to listen and learn. I look for big things out of him over the next few years.

What grade is Duncum's boy in? He looked pretty good when he got some action last year against Garrard.

He will be a sophomore as well.

The kids that True Redhound mentioned are the three that I have heard look to be the most likely to make significant contributions next year.

Fritts is a big time play maker. He has a great stride that he can stop and juke and never miss a step when he picks it back up. Very good Lateral movement. Watkins will probably be the big suprise to most. He contriduted quite abit last year late in the season at the LB spot. He is also a very hard runner. This year he is alot stronger than last year. As of nof he squats 350 and benches 225 who knows what he'll be by the end of the summer. Fritts also has that big power clean for a freshman that gives him the explosion at 225. Look for big things this year. The team as a whole see what they can do next year and are all working extremly hard in the weight room. I mean there is allready one squating 530 with the whole summer to go. Look for big things from the allready big and stout line.

I cant wait i am counting down the days.

I hear Saxson Okuma is strong for a freshman and has caught some eyes.

Is Corbin's schedule set yet? I believe that they play Belfry, Dunbar, Bethleham, North Laurel, South Laurel, Somerset & LCA in the non-district games. The district teams are Middlesboro, Leslie Co. and Knott Central.

Just heard that Bell beat Corbin in the 8th inning on log mtn. 2 run shot by

Matt simpson. Bell better watch out they will drop them in baseball too.

I understand why corbin and middlesboro do not play bell anymore, are all bell co fans like you?

Awwww...what happened to Bell in basketball ! :D

It's becoming a little more clear now isn't it?:thumb:

what do you mean by that comment. You beat Bell 1 out of 3 times this year in basketball, yes, your win was in the region but you got beat the very next game by south. Let's see that is; Bell won the football game again, won 2 out of three basketball games and already beat them in baseball. Yes, I guess

if I were Corbin I would be like Middlesboro and quit playing them too.

If you were refering to me, as I am not real sure who this post was directed to, I really would rather not drop Bell from our schedule . . . I would enjoy beating you all this year in every sport. I like good competition. I would like you to notice however, that I am giving your team credit but directing my comment to a fan ( I assume you are not a player, perhaps I am wrong). Ugly comments make you look small. So, all that said, I will take the high road and say I hope we put you guys back on the schedule and hope that Middlesboro keeps you on their schedule. I wish you guys all the luck in the world beating us (if we put you back) and them (Middlesboro) if they keep you. You will need it.;)

All I was doing is making a silly comment in reference to another silly comment!

Bell beating Corbin in baseball had nothing to do with this thread in the first place...

I agree with you that the two schools need to play but it isn't going to happen, NUFF said. I also wish Corbin well, you have 2 fine young men on that team from Bell county and we pull for you guys often. Good luck in 2a

this year. I hope we have all mtn. teams in the state championship games.
