True. In theory. However, Covington Catholic doesn’t have any ranked at 215 so it’s not like he’d be wrestling up to make room for someone. It might make sense to bump him up for dual meets to fill weight classes. But he’s wrestled every match at heavy, and if he truly weighed low enough to wrestle 215 I would think he would have done so at least once. Plus his initial weight assessment on track placed him in the 285 weight class so he at least weighed more than 215 when that assessment was done. I can’t access his descent plan or actual weigh ins on Trackwrestling, but everything I’ve heard (my son is a coach in NKY) and seen in results indicate to me that he’s wrestling in his natural weight class and weighs more than 217.

Not necessarily. The trend at the college level has been toward tall, leaner, athletic wrestlers at this weight class. You'll see a ton of variability in body types of wrestlers at this weight at the high school level. Many of the bigger kids are just that...big. And a really athletic kid like Willie that is strong and is good on their feet can score a lot of points a be real difficult for the bigger guys to defend. While not an elite, national level wrestler, if Willie dedicated himself to the sport of wrestling, he'd certainly have a pretty high ceiling. At the college level, the heavyweight class is 198 and above.
