Franklin County 49 Warren East 21

So #57 was ejected prior to this incident which would make sense him not having his helmet. What did he do that let to his ejection? Players have been ejected before, do they all need to have a coach watching them the rest of the game? I commend the WE staff on making the decision to end the game there, it was a tough call but the correct one. Tempers already that high, nothing better would’ve come of it.

He was ejected, as you can see in this clip: Warren East vs Franklin County | KHSAA High School Football Playoffs - YouTube - #57 hits someone in the back well after the play.  You can see the white hat signal the personal foul, followed by the signal for ejection.

I don't know about punches, but there were two incidences of players running in at full speed to blast someone.  One was #57, the aforementioned ejected player.

And I agree, I know this is not what Warren East wanted, from the top down.  They're kids, and kids sometimes do dumb things.  Doesn't make it right, but I also don't think it's a sign that the East coaches encourage it.

You can see it in my post I quoted.  He hit a player in the back well after the conclusion of the play.

Any ejected player is supposed to be taken off the playing field & into the locker room immediately after the ejection. #57 shouldn’t have been out there.

Not in HS in KY.

Additionally, those on here blaming coaches and team culture for a rogue action is just silly. 15-18 year old kids make some really poor decisions at times… no matter how they have been raised, coached, or instructed. See a few of the Corbin players in the Finals against Louisville Central just a few years ago. It would be different if the whole East team ran on to the field, but that was not at all the case here.

Franklin County players were talking smack the whole game to WE Coaches and players. You can watch the whole game on Prepspin. When WE got done, you can feel something like this was going to happen.

I'm sure that was completely one sided and the WE players never said anything to the FC players.

That goes on in every game.

Might wanna double check that on the KHSAA page. Says in section 5 on the return of disqualified players that the ejected player must be escorted from the playing site upon initial ejection.

I’ve seen referees stop games until ejected player is removed from sidelines.

Ok, you sent me down the rabbit hole since I was pretty sure that I was right about this one... and before I go further, I now only kinda think I'm right...

Here is the KHSAA Bylaw you referenced... I have highlighted what I believe is the critical point...

(5) When a participant is ejected from a scrimmage or contest, the participant is to leave the vicinity of the playing area and remove himself/herself completely from the area of the playing facility unless the specific playing rules of the sport call for a different penalty option or the student would be placed in a position of not being supervised. In those cases, the administration of the player’s team is responsible for ensuring that the student participates in no other unsportsmanlike activity or the school itself may face additional penalty under Bylaw 27;

KHSAA uses the NFHS Football Handbook for rules, which I have linked HERE. Here is the best I can find which leads me to believe that I may ne right about this as that it just specifies adults in the wording:

A disqualified member of the coaching staff shall be removed from the stadium area and be prohibited from any further contact, with his team, direct or indirect, during the remainder of the game. For failure to comply, the referee may forfeit the game.

Let’s say it’s 50/50 and we are both right & both wrong haha.

I’ve watched the clip multiple times and I counted 7 FC players leave the bench and come on the field.  By rule, they should be ejected for the next game.  The rule is pretty clear.  The FC kid that got hit was one who came off the sidelines.  Hope the KHSAA does a full review and benches the kids as the rule states.

This happened after the punt so I'm sure it's hard to tell who was running onto the field for offense and who was leaving the bench with other intentions.
