  • Hey, that’s the Highlands way going way back. Highlands shouldn’t ever be sucking wind. Dale would run our stones off if anyone put that much on the scoreboard.

What happened during warm ups to start the second half?

Very lackadaisical effort warming up. Coaches leave it up to the kids to warm up. I know they should be able to but then again, part of the lack of leadership. People will say I'm being very critical but then again….

I know what you mean about the warmups and have noticed that as well. With that said last night, they were warming up before Ryle even came out of the locker room then scored 2 quick TDs after half as part of a 40-6 run that put them up 25 points. They started pulling starters at that point.

I have never really heard a complaint before about halftime warm ups. What exactly should a halftime warm up look like? Since basically all teams warmups at halftime look very similar.

I had to dig deep to find that early 1980s era Highlands post-halftime warmup routine. Love the all-blue unis on the Birds.

Sat through most of this looooooong game.  A win is a win.  I will continue to say Charlie Noon needs a minimum of one touch per offensive series, kid is just a flat out player. Running game was really good, yet Hayden Sphire abandons it inside the 20.  IMO the kid has NO business calling offensive plays, earn your keep.  Up 25 with 7 minutes to go, run the ball because the clock is your best friend. Special teams were much better last night for most part.  Again Noon is special.  Kickoff team still needs some work.  Glad to see them kicking from hash to corner, but guys need to break down and keep returner from finding gaps to get decent returns.  Overall not a bad game with plenty of good with some areas of improvement still needed.

I am with TVH on the celebrating nonsense.  Be excited, but quit with the NFL mockery of the game please.  The flexing and wiping front of your shirt after you make A play is a little much.

You are not being over critical. You are speaking to the little things and they add up big time. What has made the great HHS teams great is the attention to those little things. It either matters or it doesn't!

So I’ll ask again. How exactly did those great Highlands teams in the past warm up at halftime? What about the warm up last night was lackadaisical, compared to how Highlands teams of old use to warm up? Did Highlands teams under Mueller use to do bull of the ring type stuff at halftime to get hyped back up for the second half?

I truly have never seen someone complain about a halftime warmup. So I really am curious about what this half time warm up looked like, and what it should look like so it wouldn’t be considered lackadaisical. Especially since that lackadaisical halftime warmup apparently worked.

And I will repeat again that it is the little things that matter that make bad teams good and good teams great. It isn't just the warmups at halftime; it is an attitude that everything you do matters. And to be very honest, Coach Sphire has done an awesome job of paying attention to the little things - which is why it was surprising to see.

However, to answer your question they were very organized and efficient under Coach Mueller - because he believed in the little things. It seems that it would be good to understand that every little thing matters if you want to be great. I never dreamed it would be such a big deal to want your team to care about every little detail.

I went to this game last night bc I figured it would be more competitive than the Beechwood Vs CovCath game. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t pay attention to either team warming up before the game or half time. That being said, I agree with the small things add up to big things mentality. If you want your players to tie their shoes a certain way, they need to be held accountable even though it seems like a minor thing.

on another note Highlands isn’t the only team that flexes over even the smallest hits or wipes the chest after a big play. It drives me crazy to see kids do that. Get excited but celebrate with your teammates as they all had a roll in your good fortune.

Another note: Your team is up 25 with the ball, why throw? It was already a long game bc of the penalties and Home Coming festivities, run the ball and get out of there.

Yeah me either.

So basically what you are saying is you have no idea how to answer the question, or be specific with your answer.

Did I ever once say the little things didn’t matter? Please find where I said that? I agree the little things absolutely matter, and I know I make sure I focus on those little things. So you may want to leave the little personal dig out of your post next time, and possibly just answer what was asked.

I’ll ask again what exactly was lackadaisical about their warm up at half time last night? How was their warmup any different than basically any other teams halftime warm up? What exactly was coach Mueller’s half time warms ups like? What did they did for half time warms ups that was so different than what Highlands did last night? I’m truly asking, but yet no one can seem to give me an answer.

I can answer it for you, because @TEDFROMVILLAHILLS said so!

I will show myself out. ?
