Sat through most of this looooooong game.  A win is a win.  I will continue to say Charlie Noon needs a minimum of one touch per offensive series, kid is just a flat out player. Running game was reall

  • Hey, that’s the Highlands way going way back. Highlands shouldn’t ever be sucking wind. Dale would run our stones off if anyone put that much on the scoreboard.

Dale knew what he was doing though.

I know you are right, it is embarrassing for Highlands football players to be sucking wind.  This is definitely not your big brother's Bluebirds.

I think Coach Sphire knows what he is doing but I scratch my head more and more when it comes to Highlands.

That’s not what the announcers said during the last 3-4 minutes of play. I’m just going by what they said since I’m not familiar with the Birds roster.

The announcers do a great job and provide an opportunity to see games that many people otherwise wouldn’t. I appreciate what they do. But they don’t know the personnel of either team all that well. Nor should they be expected to. They don’t see the same teams week in and week out, so they miss things here or there. My point is this game wasn’t close. It was closer to being a running clock.

Yeah but they have some great kids. I honestly don’t even know if coaches are allowed to run kids into the dirt anymore.

No doubt "life" is much, much softer now and it will not age well.

You don’t have to run just to run at the end of practice. You can run and condition in everything you do at practice. Sprint to stations. Sprint thru reps. Sprint on and off the field. Sprint to the line of scrimmage.

If you do those things, you need less running at the end. Condition throughout the practice and the team gives that effort during the game too.

On the other side of it, we don’t see practice. Maybe they do. It was more hot and humid today than it has been. But there were several players cramping later in the game.

I know one thing needs to change. Taking helmets off on the field as a player comes off after making a big play only to have them get burnt on the next series. Sure, have fun celebrate but don’t show up the other player or team. Because everyone is watching when you blow the next play! Can’t have it both ways boys! #flush

Did you get a chance to see both teams warm up after half. Pathetic to say the least. But hey, why complain. It was a win. #oldschool

What happened during warm ups to start the second half?

Highlands could’ve kept the the last Ryle TD off the board but kept throwing the ball for whatever reason. That allowed Ryle to score and then proceed to use their 3 TOs. The longest game I can remember in a while and it was never in doubt for Highlands after they went up 25. The fake Punt worked again and the defense was stout the first half. Lots of penalties on the night by both teams that were mostly false starts or offsides, maybe a few lineman down field on passes. Not as exciting as the score indicates but Noon for Highlands was worth the money to see play.

Not sure what this means? Homecoming court was announced and both teams were given extra time to warmup. Some people just like to complain.
