This weeks matchup between the Corbin Redhounds (2-0) currently ranked #4 in the Bluegrasspreps Class 4A rankings and theFrankin County Flyers (1-1) who is currently ranked 5th. This top 5 matchup will give a early indicator of some deep season playoff opponents. Last years contest between the two teams saw Corbin knocking off #1 Franklin County in Corbin by a score of 27-7. Corbin winning both of its first two games over Pikeville 24-19 and Whitley County 42-13. Franklin County took a early loss to much improved Scott County team 20-17 and unleashed the offense in a 69-0 win over Western Hills. Keep a eye out in this one for Kaden Moorman for Franklin County and Cameron Combs for Corbin. This will be one to watch this week. What do you think?

  • You would be correct.

As a football fan, you gotta love these strong pre-district matchups, this could easily be a 4A state championship preview. I'll take Corbin in this one.

Corbin will be way to physical for Franklin County. Corbin wins 21-10.

First games can be misleading but something looked off for Franklin against Scott Co.  I like Corbin to take down the Flyers again this year.

This one produced a stunner last year. Not that Corbin won, but rather the three touchdown margin and the way the Hounds silenced the Franklin County offense. The Flyers came out like a house on fire to begin the season and Corbin turned the hose on them.

I expect a better showing from FC this week. I also expect a low scoring game where special teams play a deciding role. I don't know about FC's kicker, but Corbin has a good one.

FC has a good kicker D1 recruit Easton Powell, Special teams was bright spot in the last few games but I am sure Corbin is sound in those areas. Something off for the Flyers? Time will tell! I am rooting for the FC boys to rise up and make it a game. Corbin has all the momentum being 2-0.

Moorman had 46 yards on 15 carries against Scott Co.  That doesn't seem "off" to you?

Sounds like SC dominated the LOS to me.

I believe Corbin's kicker just committed to EKU.  He can boom it.

He is a good athlete… I think he led the team in tackles as well against Pikeville. Sounds like both teams is good on special teams if it comes down to that.

Corbin has already stifled one Mr. Football candidate in Blake Birchfield. They'll get a look at Moorman this week. I think a lot falls on the shoulders of quarterback Gavin Hurst to open things up for Moorman with his legs. The Flyers probably need a big night out of Zach Claudio, as well. He sat out the opener and played sparingly last week. At least one of FC's studs needs a breakout game.

As great as Moorman is, it's a lot to ask of one player - especially a running back - to carry a team against an opponent with great defensive quickness that flies to the football, as Corbin's does.

Scott County's lines (especially their OLine) were really impressive in the BG scrimmage a few weeks ago.

If Corbin has the better lines than FC, I'll take them 20-17.
