Who is your school's best Coach of all time?

Featured Replies

My wife worked at the nursing home in Maysville as activities director for a year, back around 1990 or 1991, something like that. Mr. Jones was at the nursing home at the time. One of the things she did was to organize a Maysville-Mason County reunion basketball game held at The Fieldhouse, and recognize Coach Jones at halftime. That was a fun night!

I believe I worked at that Nursing Home in 1987-1988, Coach Jones was one of my patients.

  • Holy Cross has had many very good coaches over the years including Ralph Kemphaus, Jeff Trame & Clay Eifert. However, the best ever at HC without a doubt is George Schneider!

Maysville High School - Earle Jones.

What about Woody Crum?

Harrison County - Jock Sutherland, Woodie Crum or Mike Reitz

I might even throw in Mike Listerman although he wasn't there very long.

Best Of All Time - Stan "The Man" Arnzen" I hear 30 years after his death they finally will name the gym after him. By the way what ever happened to Bobby Vanderwho?

Toad, I used to watch you play at St Pat also.I remember you being a very good player. Also remember Fran Stahl and even Laurnie Caproni. All three ,fine ball players. I think I saw you at the 5/3 tournament.:dancingpa

I would say Dayton High School's would be John Wooden.

The greatest coach to coach in KY history.

I actually thought about putting this down yesterday. How long was Wooden the coach at Dayton?

A great legend.

Gallatin County: Jock Sutherland(led Gallatin to only Sweet Sixteen appearance in 1959) and Jon Jones( All "A" Classic State Runner-up in 1999 and an appearance in the 2006 All"A" Classic).

Fleming County- Lake Kelly

I would say if a poll were taken amongst FCHS graduates Bobby Hall would be picked as Flemings best coach. I believe there was a student walkout when Hall was let go. People were screaming for Kelly to leave.

Bath County - Julian Cunningham. He made some noise in the 10th region during the early to mid 70's. Two regional titles and one runner-up trophy.
