Best Manager in 10th Region
bigsnortinghorse replied to BEARFACTS's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think ALL of these young men and women are to be commended for doing a thankless job most wouldnt do and add a great deal behind the scenes doing important things and not getting the glory of the athletes. -

8th grade question
bigsnortinghorse replied to shsbballmom's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
The KHSAA adopted a rule, out of the Public Private Debate, that would require any athlete or student in the 7th or 8th grade, that changes school districts after they begin the 7th or 8th grade, and then change attend a high school that they are not a direct feeder school for to sit out athletics their freshmen year. This was passed by delgate assembly and Board of Control and will be voted on by the State Bd of Education Feb 15. As I understand it this would first be applied to those who are sixthgraders now. So if you were in 7th or 8th this year it would not affect you. Under this rule if it becomes law...For instance if you were attending St. Matthew in Taylor Mill as a 7th or 8th grader but wanted to go to Scott youd have to sit out your freshmen year. If you went to Notre Dame, NCC, or Holy Cross you could since the Diocese will be considered one school district. However if you say went to Woodland Middle School you couldnt go to any private school without moving etc without sitting out freshmen year. You can go to school there just not participate in athletics -

The Coaches can vote as a group to use 3 officials lets hope they do for next year. Its only a $40.00 differecne per game. They get 60 for three and 70 for two. The host school doesnt set those guidelines -

Geeeeez If only coaches could play. It depends on how the players do when they show up. Time doesn't always have to do with a persons ability. Tenure is always good because of experience but in public schools especially they often stay well past their time. Sadly in girls sports many coaches arent evaluated as hard as in boys sports too. Paris is a good team but Christman and others arent here this year. Montgomery and Mason return almost everyone and will be hard to beat hopefully they will draw each other in the Region. Brossart can be right there. Congrats to Nell Fookes too closing in on her 500th in 3-4 more games. Best Coach Ever in Northern Kentucky. -

I do and I do know that Simon Kenton is in the eighth region so I doubt theyll be much of a concern for the 10th Region Lady 'Stangs hehe -
The final score was closer than it looks but the Brossart Lady 'Stangs led from start to finish and are now 10-2, Lloyd is now 7-8. They were up by 16 with just 2 minutes to go. The Brossart website has complete details just saw it posted... http://www.mustangathletics.org Steffen on fire again with 16 points, 14 boards for the Geiman troops:fight: BIG GAME MONDAY Brossart at home with Conner

Paris is the defending champs and they will get a lot of calls but Brossart should beat them at Nicholas. The REAL TEST of a good team is to beat who they SHOULD beat and Brossart has. As you say they have only lost to two teams ranked ahead of them. Anything else is a plus. Basketball is too long of a season so there are always bumps. Montgomery Co and Brossart are two best coached teams in Region. In the end its draw, talent and luck. Brossart has beaten Camels and Eagles to get No. 1 Seed and that is a plus in this year's region field. -

Brossart Plays D and are at home. D wins out. We are also talking about a team ranked in States top 10 at home. Seeding isnt as crucial this year since big gap between 1 and 2 and 3. A 1 and a 2 are about the same -

10th Region Tournament Restructure
bigsnortinghorse replied to Mustang's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think it will be an interesting vote. I think the problem is there are so many small schools in the 10th that may on a given year host the Region by winning their District. Where does Augusta Host if they win? What effect does the finances have? I think the girls and boys coaches Ive talked with love the idea of having a break between games especially a day off between semifianls and finals to prepare and also it assures the girls each year have at least one prime night (Friday-Saturday) for their finals each year
