Neither team deserved to lose. Great game by Boone's Hicks, she couldn't miss. Both teams I am sure will see each other in the Region, and I for one hope NDA and Boone are in opposite brackets, so we as fans can see a great 9th Region final.....

 

I will post more of my thoughts on the game later.... Again great game by both teams, and I for one haven't seen a boy or girl hit shots tonight like Hicks did.....WOW.......

Boone will press in the first half of this game and not wait until the 4th qtr.

Bradley will take care of the ball better in this game and limit her first half turnovers that hurt them in the first game. Behrens is now settling in with the rest of the team and they are getting better because of it. Seem to be focused in more after the Coach took their cell-phones away in Tenn.:thumb:

To much use of their bench will wear NDA down.

 

NDA will not make any adjustments from the last meeting. Will still try to pound it inside. Which is where their strength is, but if you take that away

from them they don't know how to react(at least it would seem that way). Tierney won't match last games performance all year let alone against the Lady Rebels.

You are absolutely right it was a shame one team had to lose. Nicole put the team on her back and carried them past the finish line. We played with Nicole and Emily over the summer at Washington in the Junior Nationals. Class acts with very nice partents. Jackie was the first to congratulate them on their win she is one drained worn out girl right now.

You got it wrong.... :D Boone County is now leading NDA by one point, after 10 quaters of play...... How can you get any closer.......

What a game! This was better than the NCC/Boone regional game a few yrs ago. No doubt these two will meet for all the marbles. I think both NDA/Boone are at least 10 pts better than all the other 9th region teams after what I saw tonight.

 

Way to go Jackie Hicks(8 3's) and you too Merideth Reed(4 3's).

 

Some costly mistakes again at the end on the foul line. From what I was told, this cost them against Iroquois too. Teams must box out on free throws, step up the lane not straight into the lane, just an observation tonight.

29 point performance by NDA's Nicole Dickman in this "big" game situation was tremendous. Congrats to her on a great game and displaying a whole bunch of poise under pressure.

Almost a day later, and this game still brings a smile to my face....

 

The NDA "AD" and Administration, need to assign seating to the visitors and the home team. No problem between the adults from the different teams (heck most know each other rather well) but the Boone Boy's sitting in the same section as the NDA girls was a disaster waiting to happen. No one from the NDA administration was there to keep an eye on the kids, and at one point when the Boone Boys threw some candy that hit some of the NDA girls, I was worried that something just might happen.....

 

The Boone County Boys....If any of you had attended the CovCath vs Boone County football game as fans, or had not left your seats with only three seconds left in regulation, I would have applauded you for showing up at this game, but...........

 

Coach Darpel...... With 3 seconds left, and Boone taking the ball out from under NDA Basket I didn't understand the following:

 

1) With the timeout Boone used, they were required to stand at one spot in the inbounds line. Why not put Drees on the girl and limit her sight line and ability to throw deep.

 

2) With NDA only having 3 fouls, NDA had three foul to give before Boone would get to the free throw line. Why not force Boone to throw it short, then foul the girl with the ball. With only three fouls on NDA this would have taken at least a second and a half off the clock and you still have two fouls to give.

 

3) Love this quote from Coach Darpel "I told them it's a great win and they should enjoy it, but it's just a win in January and that's not our main goal," Darpel said. "Our goal is to keep getting better and win region."

 

Coach Fookes.....

 

1) Why use three important subs for the entire JV game? I understand that those three need the minutes, but as one Boone fan mentioned, the girls on both team were exhausted. I can only image the three young ladies who played almost every minute of the JV game, then at least half of the Varsity game had to really be pooped....

 

2) Loved this quote from Coach Fookes: "That ball was in the cylinder," said Boone County coach Nell Fookes. "That could have just gone in and it could have been our game easily. I could be talking about a victory right now."

Great game played by both teams!! I have only been in a couple of gyms that have been as loud. The mark of a good team is when different girls step up each game and both teams have several girls who can step up.

 

After watching the game , I do believe neither team should count out some of the other 9th region teams. There is a couple of teams capable of knocking either one of them out on the right night.

I don't think either team is annointing themselves 9th region champs. They understand that overconfidence will beat them just as easily as a bad night. Coach Fookes will not let complacency ever set in on her teams. Fookes has 1 golden rule there are no set starters each player has to earn her spot each week in practice. I think there are 2 or 3 9th region teams that could beat either team on any given night, but on the same note I will take my chances with the team we have this year. Conner has posted a couple of good wins recently and are quietly compliling an excellent record right now, also you can never count out Holmes who has one of the best coaches in the region along with Fookes. Last you have New Cath with some very solid talent inside and out and a gamer in Klei who will not quit till the end. Should be interesting the rest of the year which makes for good basketball. Tomorrow we are off to Russell who is ranked in the top 20 in the state. We will see how the Lady Rebels react to a tough loss and then go right back on the road to another tough team and venue. Hopefully I will post a winning score tomorrow for the Rebels.
