How many orders will you place at a fast food restaurant?

Featured Replies

So it's lunchtime...you're headed to a fast food restaurant to grab something to eat and and bring it back to the office. One of your coworkers says, "Hey, would you mind picking me up something too?" and holds out a $20 bill.

Pretty much everyone has been in that situation. Not many folks would say no to that person. But what about when you have an additional coworker say, "Would you mind getting me something too?"...and another coworker and another?

How many orders would you be willing to place at a fast food restaurant during lunch hour? ...how much would that number change/not change if you were running at an off-time when there isn't really a rush for a particular meal?

Asking because I ran to Arby's today to grab lunch at about 12:45....and stood in line behind a woman who placed 11 separate orders.

In today's world, I'd have them all order and pay on the restaurant app on their phone and I'd go pick up their order for them.  The days of going into a restaurant (inside or carry out) with a big list for multiple people is a thing of the past in my opinion.

I'd probably take as many as I needed, but I'd figure out how to consolidate the order as best as possible to make it quicker and easier. I'd definitely go in, too. I'll never place more than two orders in the drive thru. Only tools do that.

I was in line inside when I ordered. There were things ordered like a salad "with no tomato and extra shredded cheese," "roast turkey and cheese sliders except leave out the cheese," and "Buffalo chicken sliders with the chicken tossed twice in the Buffalo sauce."

Eleven orders.

If they get took extra I’d tell them to just pick it off, unless it is an allergy.

If there were 11 people in line in front of you when you got there, would you have waited in line to order?

I don't think this is the same situation.  Because you can see if there are 11 people in front of you.  If there are only two or three your expectation as to the time you would have to wait would be different and you'd have no way of knowing that someone was about to place 11 separate orders.

Nope.

I think this is my thinking. I don't like ordering for more than maybe two people in addition to me if I'm the one headed to the restaurant...unless maybe they were only ordering drinks, which wasn't the case here.

And in this day and age, I would sure as hell would not be doing it with 11 separate transactions. One transaction, and tell folks to settle up with me using Venmo or PayPal.

If you are ordering off a menu straight, maybe 5.

If you are going to customize (i.e. Club sandwich, no lettuce, extra mayo add pickles), zero.

Exactly why I asked the question.

I'd probably place two others besides myself, but honestly I'd rather just order three and pay and let my friends pay me back. If I'm ordering eleven meals, I'm getting what I want and the other ten are all getting a #1 with fries and a Coke no matter what they told me to get!

Once again, if I can't pick up their bags on the table or cart that is by the front door of the restaurant (already prepaid), this is not happening for me.  My time is valuable.

If you are ordering 11 separate orders for a quick lunch that needs to be called in ahead of time.

I pack my lunch every day for just that reason.  I have noticed though, that my young co workers ( who never pack), ask people to Venmo money when they order for them.
