Maybe, the coaches are well aware of the risks they're taking, regarding health and perception.  They've likely weighed those risks against the benefits derived from how they manage a game (and season).

As far as the rest of NKY goes, let's be real honest; the list of grievances against CCH is almost limitless.  Let's not pretend that if CCH pulled all of their starters at the end of Q3, that CCH would suddenly be loved and lauded by all parts of NKY.

And let me play devil's advocate on this ... if you are Holy Cross, CCH leaving their starters in gives you more time to work on ways to stop them, to score against them and prepare for any possible rematch. But that takes coaching and discipline, not putting the other team on the free throw line for 40+ free throws. Any team can go out there and throw an elbow or commit a foul. If I were Holy Cross, once that game was lost, I would have started a practice session. Guys, they are giving us an opportunity here. Since they have their starters in let's try this and see how their starters handle it. Coach them up. If you want to have a chance the next time, let's work on getting better and see if we can find something we can use the next game.

My comment east because of anything more than protecting kids. CovCath no doubt will never be loved except by their own. They love that, and good for them.

This photo proves my point. Games get out of hand and when you’re down that many points and when the other team stays on the gas, you could get this in return. On any play. It’s be a shame to have an unnecessary injury and stop your run…..

A still photo is kind of unfair.  The player pump faked and the player came down hard.  Additionally, I do not think the Holy Cross players were mad that they left the starters in.  Playing CovCath only makes you better - no matter what the score is.

No doubt on the photo. Wasn’t meant in that way. Just to show that at any moment, on any play, something unforeseen or unfortunate may happen. Why risk it?

That photo looks like good, hard play to me and as was mentioned still photos can be very deceiving.  Thinking holding in football.

In an era where most of us older fellas decry the lack of toughness and "give a darn" by kids/athletes of this generation, I applaud both teams and both staffs for the display of toughness and giving everything that had without the game REALLY getting out of control on the floor.

Great, great game to watch. Really awesome postseason atmosphere. Both teams left it all on the floor and while there were moments of extreme chippiness, you could also see players from both teams catching themselves and preventing it from spiraling completely out of control.

And I’m saying the coaches are well aware of the risks.

Trust me....tough to keep players attention in a 39 point loss.
