Interesting article on SI.com today by Pat Forde mentioning some potential replacements. Pearl and Pitino were considered non-starters to him. He mentioned some other names: Cronin, Matt Painter at Purdue, Chris Holtmann at Ohio State, among others. I don't know how much of that is rooted and how much is speculation.

He also made an interesting suggestion: does someone like Scotty Davenport at Bellarmine fit as a brief replacement to guide the program through the current rough patch without knowledge of sanctions? I'm not sure that's the best idea but keep in mind Louisville is without a president and an athletic director right now. Could be an awkward spot where some potential coaches might want to wait a couple of years until the situation is more settled.

First thing Louisville needs to do is find a president.  Then hire an AD.   It's pointless to have the interim AD hire a coach only to have him butt heads with the new AD and President and be doing this all again in 3 years.

Louisville will hire a basketball coach before a President.

I think it will be after the season, sometime in March at the soonest. Is the president search going to drag on that much longer?

I agree about the basketball coach. I've heard nothing at all in terms of the President search. Only that a search firm had been hired for the AD position.

He's not going to get $12 million, that's what the discussions have been about. 

But yes, we should figure out how to be D1 coaches.

Better than good at Xavier. Most wins in XU history. NCAA every year except one.

It's bad, but we're no where close to rock bottom, IMO. It just feels that way because we are used to much better. 

 

I think Kenny Payne will probably be next coach since the old guard of Louisville going to be a squeaky wheel and squeaky wheel sometimes gets the grease.
