Boyle County All-Time Wins By Coach

According to my records, the Rebels went 5-3-1 in 1964.

Boyle County 20 Greensburg 0

Boyle County 12 Oldham County 13

Boyle County 25 Glasgow 7

Boyle County 25 Mercer County 0

Boyle County 50 Metcalfe County 0

Boyle County 68 Henry County 7

Boyle County 0 Stanford 20

Boyle County 6 Madison Central 6

Boyle County 6 Shelby County 12

Please note that this is unofficial, but I pulled it out of an old yearbook. I saw the earlier post that stated that the Glasgow game was a loss, so I will recheck my source to see if I may have gotten it reversed. Also, I saw that the Coach in 1964 was someone named Willard Davis, although I cannot confirm this.

Revises the all-time figure to 309-190-7

I can confirm that the Stanford score is correct. The Wildcats had a very good team that year, losing only the season-opener to Frankfort. Not to thread jack, but here are Stanford's 1964 results:

1964 (Coach: Rodney Walker) 9-1

Frankfort Lost 6-14

Irvine Won 33- 0

Nicholas County Won 25- 0

Harrodsburg Won 33- 0

Springfield Won 13- 0

Mercer County Won 34- 0

Garrard County Won 20-14

Boyle County Won 20- 0

Bourbon County Won 26- 7

Georgetown Won 33- 6

I see the Georgetown score, I was in Jr. High at Georgetown at that time, but for the life of me can't remember that game. The Coach I do remember his name is Jack Massey who was also my P.E. teacher. When I saw that Georgetown score and the year, it took me back.

I am surprised you can remember that much from that far back.....

When did Georgetown merge into Scott County?

When did Georgetown merge into Scott County?

Not sure, but I think the merge was in the late 70's? I move to Danville in 69.

These are sheets from the banquet program, 1972. It's identical to pages from 1971 and consistent with the programs from 1969 & 1970... so this info should be accurate.

Great pieces to the puzzle.

So, here is what I have based on all the information through the 2017 season.

Boyle County's Record Since 2007 Season

2008 13-1

2009 15-0

2010 15-0

2011 9-4

2012 8-5

2013 11-1

2014 11-2

2015 10-2

2016 7-5

2017 14-1

This leaves:

Boyle County's Overall Record

422 wins 211 losses 7 ties 66.6% winning percentage all-time

If you take away six seasons (1967, 1968, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991) the Rebels overall record is 415-148 for a 75% winning mark

The first two seasons above came under one coach. The four consecutive seasons from '88 to '91 came when Sam Burke took the head job because Boyle really didn't search for a replacement for Ed Rall and a year later hired Jessamine County Assistant John Griggs for three seasons when the Rebels went 1-9, 3-8, and 1-9). In their history they've never really hit that kind of consecutive bottom before or since.

Here are some seasons I have game results for:

I remember it well. One of the best teams I ever saw that didn’t make the playoffs.

This is some great reading. Appreciate you bringing this thread back to light @ChiefSmoke.

Until the Lone Oak double OT State game I considered this the best Boyle County game I ever saw.

Jim Farley had the undefeated first season and then moved to Florida. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he had stayed.

He was an All-State running back during the WWII years at Danville High School and had been awarded a scholarship to UK. Due to a knee injury, UK didn’t work out but he did play some college football as a 190 pound offensive tackle at Centre College.

You are correct Rebel - Smith did do away with individual awards. I really wasn't talking about them giving away that award again, I was saying that I think it still should be on display and it isn't. I looked for it and that award is no where in the display - or at least it wasn't the last time I looked. I asked the AD and he said that he wasn't sure where it was, perhaps in the back hall, perhaps put away. Anyway, it isn't there and I really think it should be on display somewhere.

I cannot say for certain but I have asked as well and the answer that I received was that the jersey had started to get in bad shape and they took it down out of respect. They didn't want it up there tattered and they didn't want it to continue to get worse was the answer to me. If that is the case I agree with taking the jersey down but maybe they should look into a memorial of some sort.
