South Warren took the opening kickoff and came up with a field goal to go up 3 to 0.  Douglass received the kickoff and went right down the field and scored a touchdown on a TJ Horton run to make it 6 to 3, the extra point was blocked.  South Warren immediately answered with a Caden Veltkamp to Luke Borton 49 yard TD reception to make it 10 to 6 SW.  Veltkamp hit Tyler Snell for a 21 TD to put the Spartans up 17 to 6 with 438 left in the 2nd quarter.  Frederick Douglass answered right back with a 73 TD pass from Samuel Cornett to Dane Key to make it 17 to 12 South Warren.

Luke Burton opened the scoring in the 2nd half for the Spartans to make it 24 to 12 South Warren with 538 left in the 3rd quarter.  With 7 minutes left in the game Samuel Cornett hit Dane Key with a 5 yard TD pass to make the score 24 to 19.  South Warren answered with another Veltkamp to Snell TD pass.  The Spartans added a two point conversion to make the score 32 to 19 with 209 remaining in the game.  The Broncos scored immediately on a Key to Dunn TD pass to make it 32 to 26 with 148 left to play in the game.  With 26 seconds left in the game Luke Burton scored a game sealing TD to make the final score South Warren 38, Frederick Douglass 26.

Congrats South Warren!  Congrats Coach Smith!

Congrats to South Warren! Congrats to Frederick Douglass being runner up!

A really good game congratulations to South Warren they played really well and made more big plays than Douglass. The game was a little closer than the final with the touchdown on the 4th and inches play. However South Warren was in control after the first quarter. Also, congratulations to the Broncos of Frederick Douglass on another great season. In last 4 years of their 5 years existence two state semifinals and two state finals.

I think they will eventually get a championship. Remarkable first 5 years!

All that elite talent at Freddy D….

Still no Championship trophy to show for it.

Meanwhile, the Brandon Smith legacy takes another step forward. South Warren definitely has undeniably been built into a powerhouse.

Dane Key is the real deal. Most talented player that South has seen this year

Snell and Burton stole the show though.

Wow a defensive clinic.  I’m shocked over 60 points.

Congrats to South Warren, Veltcamp looked great out there, wherever they needed to get the ball in the passing game, he put it there. Our Broncos fought, but they made more plays. We had a couple head scratching playcalls though. Go Broncos! See ya'll next season.

Smith’s > City !!

Does this make 0-3 for Douglass? Crazy after what happened to make this team!

Someone can fact check me on this but a stat and trend that I have seen. There has still only been 1 Lexington Public School to win a State Championship and that’s the 1981 Henry Clay Team! What does this say about football 64-E?

Bryan Station, Tates Creek, and Henry Clay have all won titles. Henry Clay won the most recent title in 1981.

1981, hard to believe that is true.

I don’t think Bryan Station has ever won. Tate’s Creek in 1975 I believe.

FD did a little better than. I would have thought, but overall it ended like a suspected.

I predicted South Warren would control the game and win by 14.

Something is not right with that program as far as in-game readiness and being able to put complete games together.

They definitely don't get the most out of their talent. I'm assuming the coach is underachieving as far as wins.
