With the Danville game not being played the past two seasons due to Covid the new biggest rivalry game of the year on Boyle’s schedule is district foe Lexington Catholic. Boyle enters this game ranked #2 in 4A while the Knights are #5 in 4A. Both teams enter this game coming off of their bye week so injuries and rest should not be a concern. Both teams are also 5-1 with their lone loss being to 2A #1 LCA. Boyle lost 35-28 and Lex Cath lost 43-7. Their other common opponent is Pulaski County. The Knights won that one 38-36 while the Rebels beat the Maroons 60-29. On paper one would say Boyle should win this one but if you know anything about rivalries and high school football, you can take what’s on paper and throw it out the window! Who do you all have this one?

For me this is my favorite week of high school football.  Catholic Week!

Same here. I anticipate this game more than I do Danville. This one actually has something on the line.

Should also be noted that every single year these two teams have been in the same district, whether it be the last decade or back in the late 90’s, the winner has gone on to win the regular season district title.

Should be an interesting game, but I've seen all I need to see.

I think Boyle County wins going away.  Their QB and Top WR are special and their defensive line doesn't get enough credit across the state.

It may be close at halftime, but I don't think it will we in the 4th Quarter.

3 td's is what my gut is telling me but with rivalry games you never know.  I haven't seen a reason to think Boyle won't win by at least a couple of scores.  But the games aren't played on paper.  Good Luck Rebels !!

To me just win.  It doesn't matter if it's 2-0, just get the W!  Winner gets to host the most important meeting at home in November.

I’m with you on it being close for a half or more. Catholic has always been resilient and rarely lays down regardless of the score. They play hard to the final buzzer.

I’ve heard that Lexington Catholic has started a tradition of putting a sword through a helmet of the opponent.  Would someone associated with that program care to post a picture of the sword through the Boyle County helmet?  I would REALLY like to see it!!
