All BGP team

Featured Replies

This poll reflects the NKY heavy nature of this site.

3 title game contenders, 2 winners, a runner-up and another team that would be Top 10 in the state. Wonder why it's so NKY heavy:confused:

No list is perfect. I do recall someone stating in another "player all-state" thread that they couldn't wait for this one to come out because it's so much better.

Sorry BGP, but you got it more wrong than right. The CJ (and probably the AP) did a better job this year.
Of course. I'm sure there was better Trinity representation on those teams than on the BGP team.

HMMM... all that makes sense right up to point where CovCath gets more players than all those others combined. I'm not saying that they don't play good football in NKY, I'm saying (along with a few others) that while CovCath may be the darling of NKY and BGP this season, maybe having more than twice as many players as any other team may be over doing it.

If you are putting that "quote" on me, please provide proof of where and when.

Not one person from Mercer?!?!
That kind of surprised me as well. Of course, I'm not sure any of their position players were better than any on the list but as a collective group, they were among the best.

Ok, I have just one question to ask. I want to know for all-state regardless who puts it out do the voters(again no matter who they are)look at a small school. If your school goes farther than they have. What if they beat schools in a bigger division. Do you not think maybe someone should look that way. Its not just Raceland. Its schools in this area period. There is nothing wrong having outstanding players in a certain area. But look what they have to pick from. Would it be so wrong to look at a small area and see what a small area player can do. I am not bitter and would never want to take something away from another player. I just think that trying to get small town players some exposure doesnt hurt either. We pulled out the calvary to get Pettrey noticed so it shouldnt hurt now to do the same.

I disagree with you. We should not bring the kids into the discussion, they didn't vote for themselves. I do agree with Diogenes. This poll reflects the NKY heavy nature of this site.

And the C-J's All-State team didn't reflect a Louisville/Trinity heavy nature?

...CovCath may be the darling of NKY and BGP this season...
They're not my darling!

It definitely did, but I believe the CJ gets votes from coaches across the state, not just Louisville coaches.*

*I only know the locale of one voter of the All-BGP Team.

Maybe, but I know that not every coach votes. And I'm also not privy to how the C-j breaks ties betwee first, second, and third teams.

I'm with ya on that sentiment.:D

This is from the CJ's website:

We strictly use the coaches vote to make up the team. The top vote getters at each position go on the first team, followed by second and third. The rest of the kids are honorable mention. It took three votes to make honorable mention this season.

One thing different with our team than some others is that if you receive votes at more than one position, it counts towards the overall total but you can only make the team at one position. Beaumont - for example - received votes at running back, wide receiver and defensive back. He had the most to make first team at running back!

Looks like the CJ is just the publisher/counter of the votes. It could be named the Harlan Independent or Hickman Ledger all-state team.

I don't believe coaches are involved in the BGP voting.

Also, to be exact, the list issued by BGP is a ranking, and not a poll.

Not enough players from Eastern Ky. on the team.

The problem I have with all of these lists is that people tend to take them too personally. Not a single one of the three all state lists are any better then the others. The CJ's list is probably the most accurate because I would be willing to bet the coaches see a more varity of players then any one. Everyone was touting that the BGP's list would be the most accurate. However it is getting the same complaints as the others. It is just different posters complaining. I would venture to guess that the ones who voted on the BGP all state list have not seen 20% of the kids in the state play. They are no more qualified then the AP writers or the coaches. These are all fun to talk about but do they really mean anything. There are probably 6-10 kids that hands down the best and then there are 3-4 dozen kids that are interchangable. The BGP is no better then the CJ which is no better then the AP which is no better then the BGP list. No matter which one you are looking at you will find the same complaints.

That's pretty amazing. Is that a BGP record?

How did Cov Cath lose a game this year?

They played Ohio teams.
