I saw Lexington Catholic in 7 on 7 at St.X over summer and I was impressed by them so not surprised by how well they are doing this season.

You got to love these comments. Lol, CCH played Elder and Lex Cath. Again, Elder at the PIT!  They had a 2 touchdown lead  on an undefeated team while decent  in the first half. Oh, and loosing there

  • This song always reminds me of being at LexCath games: Of course it also reminds me of a great scene in Battleship.

  • If they played again next week I would take CovCath.

Did you watch the game? Not sure what would lead anyone to think that. CCH has things to improve on no doubt…. But this is just silly.

I said Might…

The freshman kicker had a kickoff down to the 19 yard line this week. And two FG's that were 30+ yards.

Coach Eviston was there.

I remember in years past they had gone to the soccer team for some help.  There has to be someone in a school of 500+ boys to get a kickoff to 10-15 yard line.

Cov Cath has been spoiled when it comes to QBs.

No doubt and and special teams!

Wait, that means Highlands beats the Blueboys this year…

Very likely.  Cov Cath will struggle with Noon and HHS receivers.  Lexington Catholic had several long passes that were wide open, but just a little over thrown.  Being unable to have a consistent passing game will make it hard to win shootouts.

Biggest play of the game may have been the spot on LC's 4th down play in the 4th quarter, when they were down 14.  They ended up getting the 4th down conversion by what looked like less than a nose of the ball.

Yes.  The official on the CCH side was clearly marking short on the 4th down but the other official was closer. The measurement looked less than an inch.
Kicking had been a strength since 17 and it definitely hurt tonight on field position.
Eddie should have had the hands team out there for the onside.  They just scored quick and were still down 7.

I don’t know. Beechwood will destroy us. I think CovCath will be in a dog fight with Dixie, Highlands, and  Ryle. We will probably beat Boone County and Cooper.  We been pretty spoiled the last 4 years with dominate teams even though l thought last years team was a lot weaker than the previous 3 years teams. I knew coming in this year we would be weaker than last year team, I stated it a few times already on other threads. I predict 5-5 or 6-4 on the year for Colonels. You can’t have 10-0 seasons every year guys. You just got to accept it. Obviously I will still cheer for the Colonels and wish them luck in every game.

Don’t get too into this one game. Colonels will bounce back and make some adjustments. Just last week they dominated Belfry on the road.

Based on the SK score last week, I would be surprised if we lost to Highlands.

What were the matchups on the line like between Lex and Cov ?

Pretty good line for both teams, evenly matched. Lex is tough to get much pressure on the qb because they primarily throw short routs, bubble screens, etc. Lex had some big dudes on the O line as well. CCH qb's had plenty of time to throw the ball when they tried, just had trouble hitting their targets.

Even with the calls last night we are a great team.

Thoughts/ strategy knowing what we have seen as of last night.

-Both QB's are athletes.  These guys should never leave the field. And you have a few upcomers that can back up in a limited called game if need be. Holtz and Agee have to be on the field.

-Zion IS back!!!

-OLine had an improved outing, and looks to be buying in.  Just a matter of time.

-Defense looked good but still struggles with the short passing game.  Yards after catch is killing us.

Now fast forward- you know how the old saying goes "if you can't beat them join them." Elder and Lexcath picked us apart with the short pass game.  What would our team look like with variation of this offense with Agee/Holtz, and our other playmakers at the line of scrimmage, allowing these guys to quickly pick other defenses apart, opening up the longer game, and allowing our playmakers do what they do...in open field we have the best.

Again just couch coaching, and enjoying the season, looking forward to many more "W's"...

Cov Cath might go 1-5 in first 6 games. I was thinking this at beginning of season when I saw schedule. Now it might really happen.

Listen, I love that Highlands, Beechwood, Cooper and Dixie are all loaded and good this season. I would hold off on throwing to much dirt on CCH.
