The Tates Creek Commodores travel to "The Farm" to take on the Frederick Douglass Broncos. This is a pretty tough opening two games for the Commodores going up against Boyle Co. and Douglass. The Commodores are coming off a 31-6 loss to Boyle Co. on Saturday night. Tates Creek were led by running back Mathew Underwood who rushed for 75 yards on 15 carries. Quarterback Andrew Whiterington who threw for 122 yards and a touchdown to WR Narquvon Smith who had 63 yards and a touchdown on 5 receptions.

On defense the Commodores were led by linebacker Logan Julian who had 11 tackles and safety Underwood who had 10 tackles with two for loss along with a sack. The Tates Creek defense will have another big task on Friday night against the Broncos high powered offense.

Frederick Douglass is coming off a nice win on the road Friday night at Bryan Station 27-14. The game was played in front of the biggest crowd that I have seen in Lexington in a long time. The Broncos offense has got most of the talk this off season, but it was their defense that stood tall on Friday night forcing 4 Defenders turnovers. This was highlighted by  Ty Bryant's 47 yard pick six, Bryant also forced a fumble and had 6 tackles. Douglass lineman Obadiah Commodore led the defense with 9 tackles and a fumble recovery.

The Bronco offense were led by quarterback Samuel Corrnett who threw for 169 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Davaun Hart led the Broncos in rushing with 71 yards on 14 carries. The talented Bronco wide-receiver core was led by Cameron Dunn and Dane Key. Dunn had 4 catches for 71 yards and a touchdown. Mr. Football candidate Dane Key had 4 receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown.

This is going to be a tough task for the Commodores on the road to Douglass. Tates Creek is 0-4 all-time vs Frederick Douglass. I believe they will drop to 0-5 on Friday night.

I think Tates Creek is better this year than last year. They had some bright moments against Boyle County on Saturday. That said, the gap between the Commodores and Frederick Douglass is wide. I'd pick the Broncos with a running clock.
