Sounds like a dumb move by a desperate individual.   Doesn't reflect well on anyone.

Well they fired him for really no reason. He should be paid the balance of his contract!!!

His contract was up. What's next?

Word from some is that Dino planned to retire after this next season, that's why he was mad about not being renewed. 

It seemed like UL was getting back on track, then this.  Then again, is this still a story in 2 weeks?

Maybe not as the infractions themselves, whatever. But the UL angle and former Coach Pitino being the victim of an extortion attempt is unfortunate.

Weren't those two pretty close?  Coaches together for years at Cincy and prior school?  Pretty harsh to extort a supposed friend and then the friend turn around and call the FBI on him which could lead to felony charges.

Dino was Mack’s mentor and got him into Coaching. Just can’t make this stuff up at UL.

I thought I've read today that they've been friends for about 25 years.

UofL certainly has provided plenty of entertainment over the decade or so.  About 10 or so years ago Rick gets extorted by the wife of a fellow UofL employee he impregnated in a booth of an Italian restaurant, a few years later one of his staff hires hookers for recruits, recruits who later helped the program to a national championship which would be stripped away, the first time ever to happen in basketball, a few years later while on probation for Hookergate, a recruit (or recruits?) is/are getting payments in some bizarre relationship with an Adidas executive and now another head coach is being extorted by a (formerly) trusted assistant threatening to release Level 2 violations while again on probation when you would think the program would be running the squeakiest clean program ever.

If we have learned anything from this, UofL is going to UofL.

Man, I wonder what it's like to be a fan of a program that's always been squeaky clean. ?
