That’s exactly how you build a winning football culture. Focus on the needs of one to detriment of the team. AAU might work in basketball and baseball but doesn’t build championships in football.  

From reading all the post, the majority are more in favor of or prefer their kids or kids in general participate in the sport of season for their own team than go and play with other kids. I’ll be honest with you, I’m old school and I liked when FTJFL kept to themselves and kept everything in house. Of course they were able to because of numbers and I understand that times change and you have to expand out to survive or at the very least give the kids an opportunity to play. But when at all possible, you keep everything close to the vest and let others keep guessing what you are doing.

Highlands hasn’t gotten to where they are without a lot of sacrificing from coaches, players, and families. I’m guessing from the past 6/7 years success, the new regime thought a new direction was needed. As did the administration. That’s why we are where we are. Parents and players not ready to make the commitment to be a State Champion. To each his own. Maybe look into how some former players went about their commitment to get to the highest level which led to success. Guarantee it was doing it as a team! Just sayin!

My understanding is Highlands will be traveling as a "team" to Hoover Alabama this summer for some 7v7 competition. I'm guessing that there will be more D1 talent there than NKY has seen last few years together.  These parents and kids you speak of, need to get on board or maybe look elsewhere. And it sounds as if they have from an earlier post. Good luck to them with their new teams.

In football? Dixie and CCH that I know of. I believe Beechwood as well. 

Back to the weight training.  I thought most good programs already had a weights program option as a PE credit.

That is what HHS was trying to do but the BOE shot it down and would not approve a full time position. 

The misconceptions being expressed right now are just that, misconceptions. Coach Sphire has asked for a level of commitment that has not been seen since Coach Mueller was in charge. Nothing more, nothing less. 

I know for a fact that Coach Sphire has encouraged players to go play other sports. Period. He just wants players to be 100% in when it is football season. There has been ZERO pressure from Coach Sphire on players for them to not play another sport. 

In terms of getting mad about random 7v7 tournaments... Get outta here with your complaints! You are going from a coach who did little, if any player promotion, to a coach who literally is hiring a recruiting coordinator and taking players to a Hoover national 7v7 to expose players.

Everyone needs to stop trying to find the negative in everything.

That's weird. I witnessed Coach Sphire on Friday night walk up to a group of Baseball kids that just got done playing a game and said not to worry about missing something with Football right now. He told them to worry about Winning Regional Championships and Winning State Championships. Sound quite the opposite of what you're saying. Now if a kid isn't playing a Spring sport at HIGHLANDS and wants to participate in something else or miss for a Vacation rather than take advantage of Spring Football, then Coach Sphire has every right to hold Players accountable for their actions In my opinion. Lets be realistic, how many NKY kids have gone True DI the last couple of years? Not many. It's a handful but NKY isn't a DI Football Factory. Now if you were talking Jefferson Co then okay. I just think the masses in Ft Thomas since March 1st are thinking quite differently than you may suggest and as someone else has already stated that no one is bigger than any program. Things have to change in Ft Thomas and it starts with Bob Sphire. He wasn't brought here to go 5-5. I think the position that's being offered is a great opportunity for someone to get in the door in Ft Thomas. I will even go a little further to say that I think this position is not far from being a full time position as well. Ft Thomas Schools have the money and if they can see a significant change then they will Invest the money needed to make it happen for all the Students. Only time will tell. Just my 2 Cents.

We Travel and have played against D1 Talent and commits in Florida, Tenn, Indiana. Helping NKY kids learn the game and play against top talent from around the country.

Totally different 7x7 for High Schools than in Travel Tru Exposure 7v7. Rules are different, pace of play, top talent on every team we have faced.
