I find it hilariously awesome haha!

I was a little annoyed with this thread when it was first created but it has turned into one of my more favorites that we've had in a while on BGP.

Any of the potential replacements would be fine with me and would love to see it happen today.

Wait why? I mean some of those names also missed the tournament. Others literally were just upset by double digit seeds in first round. So what exactly are they doing or have done, that would make you so happy to have them here? When they have shown to do things you all complain about with Cal, except with even less accomplishments than he had even before he came to UK.

Just think it’s time for a change, all programs at every level at a certain time need change and I think it would be refreshing and give the Ky basketball program a new look and different mindset on how to achieve success in a different fashion. Just my personal opinion.

Fair enough. I have no issue at all if people just feel like it is time for a fresh start. People can feel like it would be best for a fresh start, without trying to criticize everything  and act like Cal has been horrible here at UK. Which is where most of the arguments come from.  If people just feel like they are ready for a change, I definitely can respect that thinking and opinion.

Agreed, it’s impossible to stay on top forever.  I look at like boxing or MMA.  I think we’re past peak Cal, hence the final 4 drought.  2014-2016 was likely the peak.  Even Coach K is going through a rough patch right now.  
 

Where you and I disagree is what Cal did during his total tenure.  How much hardware he produced.  I think he’s one trophy short of perfection while he was at UK,  but that’s subjective.

I hope he can put together one more squad to make it happen before he walks away.

They will pay whatever it takes to get the best when that times comes!

Agreed CAL has done incredible things at KY. 2015 season took something out of him and BBN. Its definitely past time for a change at KY. Barnhart got baited into the lifetime contract. He should have let CAL walk on to UCLA.

At the time of the UCLA thing UK and Cal were only two years removed from 2017 when they were probably the second best team in the country to the eventual National Champs who beat them on a last second shot in UNC. Then the year of the UCLA thing, UK was once again one of the top teams in the country with a true shot at the title with Washington, Herro, Johnson, etc. Then even the very next year, the team was experienced and set up for another deep run before Covid shut it down. Which is where these arguments come from, some of you all act like it has been all horrible since 2015 and that is just not the case. Even in the year when UCLA was a possibility, Cal had UK as one of the top teams. Which also just two years earlier they probably were the second best team in the country too. So at that time, no AD would have just let their coach leave and think they could do better.

He is a very underrated Coach who could win Big at KY.  Duke has only won 1 ACC regular season title in the past 15 years and that was a co championship in 2010.

UK fans would hate Bennett. UK needs a big personality at head coach and star power players. While Bennett has been really successful at UVA, that culture is a bad fit in Lexington IMO.
