nWo
Enjoy the warm temperatures for the rest of the day. Changes are on the way. Accumulating snow will be possible for portions of Kentucky from Wednesday afternoon into the early morning hours on Thursday. Temperatures will start in the low to mid 30s over much of Kentucky. Portions of southeast Kentucky could see morning lows in the mid to upper 30s. They will continue to fall throughout the day before the precipitation moves into western Kentucky. First for what the NAM is showing. It is showing a narrower field of snow also the track a little further north than the GFS. The NAM also is coming in warmer than the GFS. The GFS along with the NAM is showing the snow holding off until Wednesday afternoon before exiting out of Kentucky early Thursday morning. Lets look at the possible accumulation totals. First the NAM. The GFS As everyone can see the GFS is showing more in the way accumulations. For my first call I'm going with 1-3 inches with the heaviest accumulations being from around I-75 eastward. I will post my second call in the morning. nWo
Wednesday morning update: I'm going to stay with the 1-3 inches of possible accumulations. There are some spots that could see around 4 inches especially in and around southern Indiana and portions of extreme southeastern Kentucky. The snow will cause limited to minor impacts tonight and for the rush hour Thursday morning. Here is what the NAM and GFS are showing for accumulations NAM GFS I will try to update around midday. nWo
Midday update: Just want to let everyone know what I've seen from the late morning model runs. I feel pretty good about the 1-3" inches of possible accumulations. The area maybe a little wider than this morning so more could see some snow accumulations than from earlier this morning. First from the NAM: The GFS: The next map is a blend of what all of the models are showing. Southern Indiana and those living in the higher elevations of southeast Kentucky could see close to 4+ inches. This map shows where we could see some traveling issues along with others that accumulating snows could produce. The morning rush hour for Thursday could be kind difficult. I will try and update everyone early this evening.
