One of the things I wonder is how much of a role the "neutral site" factor plays into Calpreps' incorrect results. All of their projections default to the games being played at neutral sites. It would be interesting to see how accurate their projections are for games actually being played at neutral sites, versus games played at one of the schools' home fields.

That may be some of it. But probably a larger issue in the early season is the assigned starting rating. They must use some sort of rating derived from prior seasons. Just like the BGP rankings, CalPreps gives better predications as more games are played. Another issue would be injuries or playing weather. No way CalPreps can take into account if a key player is out or if a game is played in a monsoon/snowstorm. Those scores get added to the calculation and out pops game predictions.

I don't have a clue who posted that. Not one single clue.

Thanks for all that CWB!

I paid the $30 for the season pass, I am all about high quality high school football broadcasts.

And I am really looking forward to this one!

Thanks for this info!  Very helpful!

Although I respect both teams, I'm unlikely to get the 1-game fee, but if I could get a ticket I would likely go to this one, as I think it will be a great game regardless of score.  I just don't think I could with Covid.  So, I'll settle in and hope CWB and the Highlands fans provide good reports here on BGP!  They always do!

Covington Catholic 28-14.

Honest to goodness...the Highlands football angry bird is one of my absolute favorite mascot images in Kentucky high school sports.

One of my favorite high school helmets ever was the old darker blue colonel comet helmet. With the mean colonel face. Can't believe they got rid off that, so original and recognizable.  The darker blue helmet made them look like the 90s giants a little bit. New Cov Cath uniforms are nice but it's just missing that attitude and edge.

Those were my favorite CCH helmets/uniforms too.

Oh dang! I didn't realize exactly how similar they were. Here's a color shot of the home uni from '97 against Holmes.

I think coaching wins this game for CCH. 2 weeks to prepare and watch the Birds last week live. I can’t imagine Terry Brown’s defense giving up many points. Even though the WR core is a bit decimated for CCH right now, Eddie will throw in some wrinkles. CCH by 7.

My lord, a couple of wins over some not so good teams and Highlands is now the program of the past. Boyle exposes them badly but hey perhaps changes and adjustments were made to stop the bleeding and everything is fixed. I have a hard time believing that CovCath is 5-0 and not very good or questionable but nevertheless they are beatable.
I will only and always predict a Highlands win when it comes to playing CovCath because I cant imagine that the rivalry isn’t being used to motivate these kids and have them prepared. The least disciplined and unprepared team will lose this game and I can’t believe this will be Highlands or CovCath.
Wins are Wins and Losses are Losses, no such thing as a close Win and for gods sake, there is no such thing as a close Loss.

Beat Colonels!!!
