You can also make it your "default stream" so that you can just click the "unread content" anywhere on the site and it holds those settings. 

This is going to take some getting used to.

Thank you but that doesn't help me with my problem. I understood all of that. All of my old avatars are too big. I've minimized them down to 100 pixels and they are cropped even if I make the crop tool as large as it can be made. 

I like the professional look of the home page.  ?
