March 3, 20206 yr Strong storms and at least one tornado tore through Nashville and a swath of Middle Tennessee late Monday and early Tuesday, killing at least nine people and leaving a number of homes and other buildings in ruins. Nashville tornado: 9 people dead in Middle Tennessee - CNN
March 3, 20206 yr Tornadoes have always been one of my greatest fears. The fact that they can spin up so quickly and be so devastating is still unreal to me.
March 3, 20206 yr Geeze....that's going up quickly. I expected it to go up. A big tornado at night in a heavily populated area, not good.
March 3, 20206 yr If the front had been just a slightly different track, that could have been all of us.
March 3, 20206 yr My wife and I have plans to spend the weekend of April 3rd - 4th in Nashville and attend a concert at the Ryman. From what I can gather so far it looks like the heart of downtown Nashville (2nd & Broadway) seems to have been spared from the worst of it. I guess it will be business as usual 30 days from now for those business that didn't sustain significant damage. It probably seems pretty selfish to be hoping that the show won't have to be cancelled, but that was my first thought when I heard this news.
March 3, 20206 yr They have any idea on the size of the tornado? Prayers for those families in Tennessee.
March 3, 20206 yr I'm watching a live feed on YouTube from WSMV News 4 and they have just updated the death toll to 21. They did mention that 14 of those deaths were outside of Davidson Co. (Putnam Co., I think, but I didn't quite catch it) so it appears that maybe the worst of it was quite a bit east of Nashville around Cookeville.
March 3, 20206 yr I saw a photo taken at the "Auto Mall" and was told well over 10,000 cars were damaged or destroyed.
